Excellent bird MILES. Find any bones while you were out there. I was headed your way today but decided to play with PVC all day instead. I'm not sure which one would have been more productive, I know which one would have been more fun. I almost went though, with Jackelope dangling those moose sheds under my nose.

I was gunning for sheds. I gave up on birds I think. I was going to get one to taxidermy the thing in full strut. I've never done that, so wanted to try it. My trip that I had with my daughter got spoiled do to WASSL testing, so I rescheduled and cancelled turkey or spring bear in Idaho, and chose to be with her. I called in a bunch while I was shedding earlier, so had the fun, just catch and release. Anyhow, I would love to get over to look for some moose sheds. I imagine that things are getting pretty green over there and they would be harder to find. I just need to give up on elk a little earlier and get over there sooner.

Hey Bone, where did you call in the birds at, in the neighborhood.
-
That was on my Colville expeditions. The only other local bird I heard was the one I mentioned to you earlier. There were a couple over by E-burg in LFs sheddin zone. They had some guys takin a look at them though. The other one will be unmolested until they open the gate.

Is that up where you were finding all those sheds. I dont think you said you heard one up in there, just saw some feathers.

Nevermind, i just read the PM about the bird.

I sent you another PM.

those colville birds were not talking much for us either. not like last year anyway. not sure if it's too early or too late or i just can't call, but i had no issues last year. even shock gobbling to locator calls was not happening like i've seen in the past. i was curious if anybody else had this experience or if it was just me.
nice looking bird BTW...congrats
bone...i can guarantee there WERE at least 4 more sheds over there for you to go find. not sure if they'd still be there or not, but it's worth a shot.
:P

Some of the turkeys that we found in the blues won't gobble until about a hour after daylight, and the gobbling is random. Sunday in the rain we found a turkey that gobbled to from daylight to noon but would come to the call from several locations. Overall we haven't heard a lot of gobblers.

we'll be heading down to the blues this weekend. hopefully they'll be more fired up by then.
-
Would you stop....I know I need to get over there. I am thinking that this is an investment of time. If I get these automatic sprinklers working, I'll be able to do all sorts of stuff.
-
We hunted around Colville and they were gobbling at random also about 15 minutes after first light.

Would you stop....
geewizz...i hope i don't accidently stumble onto some big 7 point bull elk sheds in the blues... 8)
we won't be too far from the 440 bull.

I've been working at about the 4,000' elev lately on the Hunters-Springdale divide and the toms are gobbling up there and nobody hunting them. I guess people don't know they are living that high. Been seeing alot of moose lately there too.

I'm thinking that would end my turkey hunting for the day. With your luck, you might just find one of those laying in the road. ;)
