Incredible bulls! On the ground, on the hoof, mounted. Awesome!
Only time I've been as close to any like that was one in the path of the hood/grill/bumper of my truck while I was standing on the binders. (no impact with him or the two cows with him, not during season.) That would have been messy. Most of the mess would have been in the drivers seat of my truck!

Not sure about scores but I think a few 320's in the group.

rougheye killed grumpy with the bow in '07.
I was over there wasting my late Teanaway archey deer tag when he killed him. I got this picture the night before he was arrowed. He was a neat bull.
-
326" given a 40 inch inside sread
-
Again, this is not my animal, I was just the lowly guide that watched it get shot, but I love hunting no matter who is doing the shooting....just happy to be there...washington 343...
-
This bull was taken on one of my horseback drop camps in Idaho by the hunter in photo, I didn't get see it get shot, I just packed it out. 339+

-
Gross 323" Public Land Western WA, my best bull to date.
-
Here's my bull from Wyoming last year. It netted 320+ ,grossed 330+ with several broken tines.
-
My good friend JB killed this Utah bull with his muzzleloader in 2007....awesome hunt....bulls were hot....we had 3 different 6x6 bulls going at the same time....the tough part was getting at the herd bull with the other bulls and cows all around us....was one of my favorite elk hunts ever....326 5/8.
-
I dont know if its 320 what do you think?
-
yes definitely, his 3rd's are really good......shooooooot
-
This Idaho bull grossed 352 but had lots of deducts, an amish guy that makes handmade wood furniture in Ohio got this bull on his once-in-a-lifetime elk hunt. The guy saved two years to go on the hunt and was as happy as any hunter I have ever seen.
-
Both WA 330+" bulls. Sorry no digital field photos

Damn fellas....those are some sweet bulls!
Hopefully this is my year!

Here are a couple Washington bulls I found. Haven't been back in a couple years. They are probably in the 320+ range.

bucklucky thats a hell of a bull, where's he from???

366, this is the 2nd elk mount I ever did by the way.
-
bucklucky thats a hell of a bull, where's he from???
The 407 I assume? Idaho ;) 24 inch 2nds and thirds on that bad boy!
-
Was it a wild bull, Idaho does not produce many 400's, could it have been from UT, AZ, NV, or NM?
I almost forgot to mention, that is a mighty nice looking mount for only your second elk mount.
-

If its from idaho its an Owyhee bull :dunno:
-
It is most definately from Idaho and is not an owyhee bull. Bitteroot bull If I remember right on a pack in hunt in 95 .
-
Hell of an Idaho bull, possibly top 5 for Idaho, I hope the guy realizes what he has.
-
It is 407 gross, 389 net. It would have been top 15 I believe at one point. The guy that killed it had it offocially scored but never entered. My budy purchased the antlers from him as he was old and sick of moving them around the garage. He gave him the pictures of the hunt , score sheet, and location of kill. Even the outfitters name. He paid 700 bucks for that set, it is an incredible bul! Only had 47-49 inch main beams!
-
That's the reason I don't really care for the scoring systems. A lot of guys live by them and that is fine too, but I always figured an animal should be scored by what it grows and not penalized because one side is different from the other. That's just my opinion, I do understand the oposing views, I just don't agree with them.
-
I agree man , I talk gross when I am talking horns. Nets are dumb ;) :chuckle:
-
nets are for tribal fishing.... :chuckle:
-
A friend of mine that writes for Peterson's Bowhunting just wrote a really good book last year about elk hunting. For his book he researched all the records for all the states and while Idaho has produced tons of big bulls, it just doesn't grow 400's. That bull in your photos is a top notch bull for Idaho, yet with the deducts he reduced signficantly in standings. Notice only 2 Idaho bulls over 400.
Looks like two guys are still fighting over #9....LOL :chuckle:

Jack....a 300 bull is a nice bull.
-
a 250 bull is a nice bull too ;)
-
I can remember some hunts where a spike was a darn fine bull. I sell nearly as many cow hunts as bull hunts because we have 90-100% success on cows and for someone who just wants meat or hasn't been lucky enough to kill a bull, that cow is a darn fine elk. :twocents:
I have always maintained it is tougher to kill the herd cow than the herd bull, she is the smartest elk in the woods when they are being hunted.
-
True story bearpaw. Here are a couple "high fenced bulls". Well at least for a couple months. :)

Here is another one of my buddys little archery bulls, 320 gross

This is a wild bull on winter range in January 2009. A couple of my guides were out messing around and used a camera through their spotting scope to get this photo.

bucklucky...that's absolutely awesome mass.....

Arizona 2004
-
Another one of my buddys archery Bulls. This one is 350 gross. Called it the Idaho Roosie ;) He passed on this bull and thought it over that night and decided he would go back, the extras really helped this bull score.
-
Yes bearpaw that is a NZ stag. I shot 3, this is my biggest. The were all free range, no high fence.
-
charlie your buddy is a stud. because i would never pass that last bull. verry nice.
-
Its VERY close lol. This one scores 141 1/4. So It could possibly gross in there. Odds of the other side being a perfect 5 are pretty slim so I would doubt it would net that well. My best so far.
-
Thats a dandy 5 point shed! I wish I had pictures of my budies set of 5x5 sheds that would go about 350ish!
-
i love the giant whale tails of a big 5.

Thanks for sharing guys! This thread's better than any magazine layout I've ever seen, local makes it even better! I hope my bro's wenaha rifle tag this year will add to the "320" collection.

WOW there are some really nice lookin bulls!

Here's mine from 2007.

Outstanding bull

Thats a dandy

awesome pics fellas. 57 days and a wakeup till new mex :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

Awsome bulls guys!
-
All those bulls just have me all stired up. I hope I can find a 300 in the mud flow this year with my ML. I'm thinking finding the big one won't be as hard as getting past all the dinks. I seen 2 herds the other day each herd had about 50 bulls each. So many but so few of the really big ones. Spook 1 elk and everybody is gone!!!
Kris
-
Some roosevelt bulls. . . The shed is the left antler of the second bull in from the right. Found it the following summer just about a quarter mile away as a crow flies. This was the best picture I got with all their heads up.
No idea what they score, but dandy roosevelts.

Nice Bull nwhunter
-
Nwhunter, tell me that is a Wa bull. Hopefully you didn't take him last fall, cause he looks alot like one I saw last season and I am hoping he made it thru as I drew a Peaches tag this season.
-
nwhunter that is a dandy I would also like a story, the mass on that thing is amazing and what did he really score, I know u know. ;)
-
I got that bull in 07 grossed 379 7/8 nets 364 and change putting him at #4 PY for Wa. Not a peaches ridge bull , one of those Blues bulls. Bull of a lifetime probly. nwhunter
-
Heres one that really is closer to 320 I never got the real score on it maybe closer to 310. Guided an archery hunt last year in the same area I killed my bull in and we killed this bull on day 3 of the hunt. The rough country was pretty hard on the hunter and he decided to kill a bull and get the heck out of there before he couldn't walk anymore. Defenitely a nice Washington bull for a guy who was hobbling on a bad knee. nwhunter
-
Nice bulls guys. That bull "Elkspert" killed is a hog roosie....unique pose too.
-
The story with that rosie is I drew a west side tag in 06. Passed on a little smaller bull on the first day of the hunt. That night back at camp I was kinda kicking myself. Second morning we bugled this guy up. All I could see on him was his horns. (crown up top, good mass, white tips). That was enough for me. When he cleared the brush he was 25 yards out and still coming. He took one to the chest and it was over. I honestly think he would have walked right on me.

Hope you got permision to post those backwoods. I know one of the pics might not go over to well with a member.

Don't you have any of your own pictures to post? Quit poaching pictures! :chuckle:

no, but thanks for rubbing it in....
remember i ate a fat bowl of tag soup last year....
i just like to dream....

You dont need photos of dead ones. You can go take photos of live ones too, no tag soup when hunting with a camera!

Yup, i get that some guys just don't like their photos posted. i get it...
-
You need help. ;D
-
you're not the first to tell me this......
i just like to have a little fun.....
-
To tell you the truth, I've never measured/scored this bull. He's a 6x6, 51" wide. Suppose I ought to have him scored one of these days, but it doesn't really matter much to me. Biggest darned animal I've ever shot, and one heck of a good hunt with a good friend:

Here's the bull a friend arrowed w/ a Hoyt Trykon bow on Sept. 10th 2006. It was a 40yd shot, complete pass through, both lungs. He broke 12-13 inches off of his left eyeguard, but in spite of that still gross scored 340. Intact would have been 350-360 gross. It had a WDFW radio callar on him. He was the biggest bull coming to the elk feeding station on White pass for 4 years.

Oh yeah most definately. I love your bull. I love how long those fronts are and how they curl up like that. The fronts are actually my favorite part. It's still a dink but I love it :chuckle:

There's a lot o' bull on this thread...
Somebody had to say it... ;)
-
Yes, I know my camera sucks.
We called this the "gay bull", because even during the peak of the rut, every time we saw him he was hanging out with the same raghorn (can't see his gay lover in this pic).
-
Charlies bull is also more impressive in person than the pics he has on here. Matter of fact all those monster bulls were.
-
Nice buncha Bone!!!

I would love to see that in a magazine. Hunter takes down the Gay Bull. It score over 320.
-
This one was broken and a big 5 point... Not sure what he would score.

I think someone may have gotten him (or maybe the Columbia Complex Fire in 06). That pic was 2005 and we never saw him again.

A gay bull huh. He must be from the west side :chuckle:

Here's one a buddy killed in 2007. 340+

Here's an Idaho bull one of our hunters killed a few years ago, he grossed in the 340's and netted 337 and some change if I remember right. Sorry about the poor photo, all we had at the kill sight was a throw away camera....
-
From this afternoon. Spotted them across the canyon while cutting firewood and my boy and I stalked to within 40 yards for the pics.
-
That's cool, nice bulls......
-
a couple dandys there pathfinder, especially the lighter colored one.
-
I think this bull is 320, what do you guys score this monster!
-

Yes, the one with the lighter colored antlers was definitley the bigger one. Second time I have seen him this summer. The pics don't do him justice. You kind of have to see him from the side. Here's another one. A little hard to see, but you get the idea. My 10 year old was so excited when we snuck up on him, I thought he was going to pop.

410?? Is that a washington bull?

Gross 345, net 339
Sorry about the poor field pics, was in a hurry to get in out before dark.....wishful thinking, we arrived back at camp just past midnight.
-
great looking bulls
-
Beautiful Bull spotandstalk, congrats!
-
I am alittle late in getting this posted but here is friend of mine bull. It has never been scored and he won't let me get it scored. I am sure however it is bigger than 320. Any guess on what you might think
-
Now thats a cool bull right there! It has a good sized cheater on the right horn. Too hard too guess that one but probably 350ish give or take 20 :chuckle:
-
I would say he definitely breaks 350 and with the length of those tines might go 360+ gross.
