So I was hoping for some advice, I have a couple of spots that I feel there is a fair population of bears in the area, but have yet to see one where I feel I could get a reasonable shot at. The terrain is got a mix of old growth, clear cuts and streams at the bottom of the valleys (not always flowing but usually moist) My question is would you guys recommend calling, or just glassing and waiting.
So you know my back ground, I use to hunt yotes a lot in WI and wouldn't say I'm a pro by any means but did manage to kill some of them pesky little fellows. I know opinion will very, but bear hunting here is a far cry from hunting over gummi bears and running um with walkers back home.

Try getting on high ground. See if you can call them up through the clearcut from the creeks. Where I do most of my calling the bear action is going to be up close and personal.
You won't know until you try.
P.S. Without pictures of the area. The responses you get will be pretty vague ;)

I would certanly call. Try a coarse call. I call them quite a bit different then yotes. I call non-stop for up to an hour. I personally like a loud coarse call. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Find a safe spot to call from and definetely give it a shot calling. Ya never know what might be in there...
you could always wait until Bobkitties are in season. I called once for bear and called in a bob...but he wasnt in season yet! :bash: :chuckle:
Good luck, there is lots of bear calling info on this forum.
