Just pulled one of my cameras and saw this guy. Just started blacktail hunting (archery) and this is the biggest I have seen. Can any of you give me perspective if he is gonna be a trophy in the fall?

He is a shooter in anybodies book. He will defiantly make books with archery. Shoot his ass.
-
Im not sure how big he will end up being but He looks awesome now, I would be happy getting a buck the size he is now without having more growth. I say go for it. looks like he might end up being a 5x5
-
"it depends upon what the meaning of the word "is" is" :P
-
he's a shooter for sure...thats a big buck. he'll be a 4x4 with a good sized frame.
-
Ya I cant tell if his backs will fork our not. Looks like they will.
No I need to start figuring him out a little. Do blacktails respond to rattling?
-
he will make pope and young my guess is 112-115" by season!
-
Nice blacktail! He will be a 4x3 with eye guards.

Yes they respond quite well to rattling and grunting.

he looks like he is gonna be a dandy to me. For sure the one side will have 4 points and it looks like a bulb on his right side also, but hard to tell from this angle and it even looks like a double eye guard on the right. He still has a couple months of growing so try to keep track of him. If you get on him early in the archery season he will definitely be more patternable, good luck.

i was thinking around 110" definitely a good bt!!!

he looks young still , he's gonna be a dandy . If that area is private I'd try to hold out another year . If any one else is around stick him sept 1 . good luck
-
I say stick him! 8)

If you can find him again in the Fall, you'll have a nice P&Y blacktail. I've seen one similar that I hope to find when rifle opens up, not holding my breath though.
-
Ive been watching a couple little ones like that, better pass on him and look for a nice buck to kill, leave the pisscutters to grow up .......OK just kidding :chuckle: That is a good P@Y buck come september, kill that sumbich !

He has a little competition in the area... Here were some of the others that came by...

Damn dude, if you don't pull a buck out of that patch this year, then you just plain didn't let the arrow fly -of course they do tend to disappear come Sept. ;). lot's of nice critters.
-
I'm saying 4x4 with eye guards.
-
Great genes for early back forks in that area. He looks to be a solid 4x5 and a shooter blacktail by any standard. Good luck and keep posting pics as they continue to grow.
