Opening Day in Washington, you are Archery hunting. You gonna kill him yes or no and justify it ;)
-
Not me ;)
-
If he's within my comfort zone, in a heartbeat! Why? It would be my first deer.
-
YES, the wife is deploying to Korea on Nov 10th we both have multi season tags but will probably not be able to get a lot of hunting in. As a matter of fact no I would not shoot it would let the wife do it.....
Joe
-
for sure, seeing's how I have not got an archery kill.
-
NO Way!!! Opening week for me to let an arrow fly the deer better be bigger than 160" muledeer or 150" whitetail. I'm spoiled, I usually get out close to 60 days during the season :chuckle: My wife this year has already wrote me out for the month of Sept. Put it this way we are getting a new place up in Curlew this year, my wife is finishing school in Cheney so she has a place down there until Nov., I'm not even going to rent a place in Curlew until Oct. The Month of Sept I will be living in a tent, hunting before and after work, elk hunting 6 days deer hunting 19 :chuckle:
-
dam straight, at least in my unit that would be a toad, maybe not opening day if i had late entiat tag. but i dont so :mgun:
-
What's this ??? about? :dunno:
-
I am asking if you would take this deer while archery hunting.
-
I'm sure alot of guys would. Guess I don't see where this is going.

With all due respect i am simply asking if anyone on here would harvest this mule deer buck with archery Equipment in Washington state. I dont care where this post goes I just thought it would be cool to see everyones opinion. Sorry if I confused you Houndsman. Maybe someone else could clarify this for you a little better :dunno: :yike:

I totally understood what you where asking, I think it is a cool post, its a nice animal, I would say that most guys would take it opener, but as stated above, Im picky :chuckle:
-
:mgun: he would be my biggest framed buck yet....
-
I'd pass
-
pass
-
Without a hint of hesitation.
-
No question I would take him.
-
Absolutely not.
As a seasoned bowhunter, I know darned well that I should only be taking Doe's and leaving all bucks for the rifle hunters. As bowmen, we all know that we have it really easy, and we should be sure to leave as much of the resource for rifle hunters. How would we feel if rifle hunters had first crack at all of the nice bucks? Just being as fair and honest as I can. God bless.

Thats funny shat right there :chuckle:
-
where we hunt if someone saw a buck like that it would be down in a heartbeat. Just becasue it's a legal buck. i would probably even shoot it. i know like 20 people that all shot deer around that size. some smaller
-
He's dead!
-
Looks like the buck I saw at work yesterday. It's to bad the GMU I work in is a permit only cuz I'd have it or bigger down as the sun came up opening morning.
Seeing as I'm new to big game I will take whatever legal animal presents the first shot, buck or doe.
-
If I had a good shot I would take him , never killed a Muley with my bow and my situation as a Taxidermist , I usually dont get much time to deer hunt anymore. THWACK, dead buck tag notched.
-
If he is within my comfortzone his dead, I hunt to fill my freezer!
-
There is always a bigger one. I like to hunt to much to kill one opening day.
-
Id let him walk on opening day but a couple days later probly looking really hard to find him if my tag wasnt notched . Oh ya Im one of those rifle guys but thats a nice buck no matter what you hunt with.
-

Not to change the subject. But I hunt for the hunt. Horns and meat are just a bonus. I would rather kill a little buck the last day of the season than a decent buck the first day. I'll kill a big buck when ever I see him as long as the season is open. Maybe I hunt for horns. Hell I don't know anymore.

That's good for you! I hunt all game and I love the hunt and the bonus. I have never killed a buck that big so he would be my biggest and probably has the most meat too. I would not shoot a doe or a spike the first day that's for sure.
-
Yep, I'd take him. That would be my first buck, so it would be hard to pass up. However, I completely understand why the seasoned hunter would though...
-
Heck, I would shoot the one on the right
-
I would shoot him. Nice buck for most washington hunters, especially archery. I also really like the velvet, not to often you see nice bucks still in velvet.
It would be cool to set this up in a poll format....
-
To honest not on opening day , i would love to see my kid shoot him, I really dont care for deer meat, but love to hunt for that possible stud. I wont waste any meat I;m just not lookn to fill my freezer with a mule deer. after a couple of hard weeks of hunting to be honest again I think I'd drill him.Coach.
-
Nope.
-
Take him! I haven't killed with my bow yet and get little time to get out. :twocents:
-
pass...even knowing i haven't killed an animal with a bow yet...i wouldn't shoot.
i'm with wabonehunter and who ever else said the same similar thing. i don't want to end my season anymore with a buck like that...too much to enjoy being in the woods.
-
:archer:
Being the first day, I'd pass on the gun, but let an arrow fly.
-
No, sense i wouldn't were is he? JUST TO SEE HIM. i mean, i wont kill him or anything, i promise ;)
-

You go up this one road and take a left then circle back a few miles till you come to a big badger hole then walk up over that rid :chuckle: :chuckle:ge unitll you see that kinda scraggly pine tree. He is in that canyon

MAN , I THOUGHT WE WERE GOWING TO BE FRIENDS.
-
Yes. He would be my first muley buck.
-
I would b/c it would be my biggest archery deer and I have a lot of hunts going on this year.
-
I dont see a good shot to the vitals yet ;) I love deer meat
-
YES! Why? Because he would be my biggest deer to date.
-
pass...even knowing i haven't killed an animal with a bow yet...i wouldn't shoot.

Who says shooting this buck on opening day ends your season? Shoot it, be the hero, put meat in camp, then focus your energy helping out your camp buddies fill their tags! :dunno: :IBCOOL:
Someone has to shoot a deer on opening day, it may as well be you!
-
Yup... without a second thought... I'm a meat hunter.. and as soon as I get my big game tag notched...it'll let me spend more time hunting birds with my dog's.
-

i've only had that happen once where i shot my deer early in the season, and let me tell its kinda nice having the pressure off :chuckle:, and you get to tag along with other guys still to help get them a buck. and if i had a bow tag id let a stick fly
-
Just to clarify, he's made of venison right.......
All I see is backstraps
So yes, the arrow is flying
-
dead deer walking
-
I thought this post was a "sick trick question"!?? but I guess it isn't!!
So I just want to answer for everybody else out there!!!
If there is a single person who would pass up a buck like that, they are :liar: and a fool!!!
lots of folks might "say" OH I'm too good for a lil oll deer like that...... :liar:
-

I have seen 10-15 bucks like him and a few bigger so far this year. He isn't anything special.
-
alright, you guys are to good for me!!!! :'(
-
PASS!

:yeah: Now we talkin!
-
im passin even when i was in washington, now that im in idaho i still have rifle seasons and late archery so hes walkin away
-
depends on alot of things, Hunting are. Private or public. everyones trophy is what they want it to be. not what everyone thinks it should be. im happy shooting a doe. not a trophy but meat. It makes me think its all for something. its a stepping stone. If you want to brag about the biggest antlers then fine. Im out for a good time and if something happens its AWESOME. My trophy is in the hunt.
-
Who ever is worried about ending their season early go ahead and shoot, then you can come help me pack out my bull! This year I'd wait.
-
Only way I'd pass is if there was a bigger one right next to him. If it is legal- shoot-em-dead :mgun: Can't :cue: horns anyway.
-
If he was in my comfortable range, he's going for a ride in the back of the truck. If I wouldn't pass on the last day, I don't pass on the first day.
-
mm...mm...mm he looks tasty :P  :IBCOOL: :yike:
-
Dead deer. The only legal deer I SOMETIMES pass on archery hunting in Washington are yearling bucks and antlerless.
-
Id let the wind out of him!
-
Wider than his ears, I'd kill him. My goal opening day is always to kill any buck bigger than one I have already taken. I've killed a couple of muleys that were "OK", but both were lacking width. If I were pickier I would probably kill bigger deer, but I like having meat in the freezer too. Not willing to eat tag soup yet if I don't have to. I am working on this moral deficiency though.... :chuckle:
-
Not me, just not what I would be looking for.
Who cares people where it's going, don't anwser then good god.
-
I would let him live a few more yrs but if I did not have a lot of deer under my belt I kill him
-
For sure. This will be my first year archery hunting for deer (second year of archery overall). Plus, the archery elk bug bit me bad after last year so it would leave me more to focus on elk.
-
I would pass for a opening day deer.
-
yes
-
no i would not
-
he is on the wall! first deer.....
-
Hell, I'd kill the one on the right.
