awesome bone...fz18??

Yep.
-
Very cool. How close were you to him in the second to last photo?
-
15 feet

I am constantly amazed how most animals survive in snowcountry. :dunno:
-
Chukars are really gorgeous birds.... tastey too.
-
Great pictures! This is how I like to see them!

I've got some huns hanging out too, they're next on the agenda.
-
Lee Root has a point!
-
ditto. a chukar in the freezer is worth 2 in the bush ;)
-
thats a cool photo of the gwp...it's a good think he has a brown head, otherwise he'd disappear in that country.
-
i used to have a german shorthair and an all white jack russel. the german shorthair made for some cool pictures in the snow and the jack russel if he was holding still you had to pick him out by his eyes or not at all if the snow was more than a foot deep.

Here she is on point! She has been a chukar hunting machine since she was 5 months old. She is a Deutsch Drahthaar, Cassandra vom Orion. You are right, she does blend into the sage, but she holds her birds well.

I usually hunt her with one of my other two DD's, on Saturday it was just Cass and me. She is actually a lot darker than she looks in the picture, but I am using a new camera and messed up the exposure. I also was in a hurry to shoot the birds she was holding.

she's a beauty. my neighbor has a new GWP pup. he is a handful!
i wasn't sure if it was a DD or a GWP. not sure how to tell, but either way she's a beauty. my next dog for sure.

Jackelope, The only real way to tell is to flip the right ear over and look for a tattoo. All DD's registered in Germany are tattooed before they leave the kennel. I tell people that I spend my weekends out with bearded tattooed ladies, unless I am out with my male DD, Blaze. Then I am just out with one of the guys.
Other than that all DD's are tested and evaluated before you can breed them. The key is that they are truly a versatile dog, I use mine for upland, waterfowl, rabbits and two of them are trained to track blood trails, and the youngest is going to go through that training this spring and summer.
That said they are not for everyone. They need to be challenged all of the time, either in hunting situations or in training.

lee if you don't mind can you fire me some kennel info on my "help me find a dog" thread in the general discussion. I am in the hunt for a gwp or DD.
