I thought the big buck and big bull threads were fun, how about a thread for anything that is not ordinary "freak antlers and horns", let's make it for any specie with antlers or horns so everyone has a chance to participate.
I'll start it with an awesomely freak spike....
-
Here is a set of freak mule deer sheds from 2008.
-
here are a few of the freakiest I've ever seen.
-
viking you are killing me..... :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
I have never been lucky enough to be carrying the gun on too many freaks but in MT in 2007 I got this buck. I passed a 140's whitetail that my buddy shot, he thought I was nuts, but I wanted this buck since it was different.
-
That is wild
-
Rancher that owns the property had been watching him. He told me one time the buck went to jump the fence, the horn hooked the top wire, and the buck did a summersault in the air, I would like to have seen that. He had about a dozen does, so he was a fairly bad a$$ buck even though he's obviously young. His skull had been cracked but had fused back together.
-
24" spike from Montana

Heres a wierd little three point we got in Washington a few years back. He was bedded down and I had to get 50 feet from him to confirm that he was a legal buck. His right side has a crown on top and all three of the points are 2" long. And he still had vevlet in October.

Did he have any nuts?
-
This one did have nuts, but the one I killed the year before that was a huge 2x3 that was still in velvet and he did not have nuts. Those were the last two bucks that I have seen in the area that kept there velvet. I guess we thinned them wierd ones out of the herd.
-
Wow Craig, thats awesome. Glad you got that thing out of the gene pool.
-
craig did you realize he was just that when you shot him.....
-
my ranch owner friend actually shot him. I just took my picture him him. We came over a little hill and At first we just seen a wide buck with five doe. We took out the binos and seen he was a spike and the rancher said we better kill him before he starts trying to breed the doe.
-
Here are a couple more pictures of him. He had a big body and was a older buck.

-
Not to unusual but a WA buck in full velvet during general firearm. All parts intact and could find nothing else abnormal about him.
-
Definitely good that you guys killed him....pretty cool buck though.
I was hunting in Australia with a couple friends and the guide let us shoot several red stags and other animals with inferior antlers. This was the "trophy spike" of all that we saw. This red stag had a 30" and 36" spikes, he was a few years old and had several hinds (females), they figured he probably had already killed some good stags with his spikes. Red deer are tenatious fighters, I have seen several with skull plates broken and an antler hanging loose.
-
ok, here is the freakiest one I've killed... sort of a unicorn. Not real uncommon, but a bit unusual.
-
CChunt, your buck wasnt from north of Odessa was he?
-
Heres a blacktail
-
Here's another I found
-
Way cool, I like that last blacktail jeremiahP
-
Here is a deer with a pretty wierd eyeguard, freakishly long, and his horns didnt fork till they were past his ears.

-
Man those are some cool looking bucks, gotta admit i like the different stuff.
-
Couple of elk.
My 5x1 from a couple years back and a 3x1 that I received a picture of.
-
friend of mine took a 5x1 last year rimrock
-
That red stag is frightening. :yike:
-
509er - About 30 miles north of Odessa
-
Guy R paynes hanford deer. One messed up buck.
-
Stump on his left side. At first I thought he was broke off but he's just a freak.

Freak Whitetail
-
my buddies buck from the farm 2005
-
this post is just to remind me to post my cousin's bull when I get home tonight. I keep forgetting to do so. He actually has two freaks, but I think I only have pics of the second one. :bash:
-
I see bucks on the palouse all the time still in velvet during pheasant season. I think they ruin their nuts jumping the fences.
-
This buck has an awesome eyegaurd.....
-
cool pictures...I could look at these all day long....Thanks for sharing..
-
This is the bull I mentioned earlier - the antlers were actually slightly sideways to the skull plate. We think that he got hit by a car when young and he also had hoof rot in one foot.
-
Saw this guy today. My son and I spotted him across the canyon and stalked to within 40 yards for the pics

Thats a legal elk isn it?
-
shhhhhh..... (I was hoping I was the only one that noticed that.... :bash:)
-
I'll shoot a freak over a standard run of the mill animal everytime...
here is my freaky pronghonrn and mule deer.
-
Patfinder i did notice a split on that right side, but it is not above the ear :chuckle:
-
couple more of the deer.
The thing had a huge body. 1.5 inches of fat on the back. I'm guessing 300# on the hoof. And this was shot in October, after all the others had lost thier velvet making him even more freaky.

That's pretty cool. Did he have nuts? Lotta times bucks that look like that (freaks, velvet in OCT, etc..) are stags...
-
This is a pronghorn I saw last year on a neighboring property, couldn't shoot him. :(
-

Looks like he got too close to the campfire last winter and melted his antlers... :chuckle:
Cool buck...
-
(https://hunting-washington.com/cpg/albums/userpics/13722/img021.jpg)
Another pronghorn. Hard to see with the low light but horn goes strait out to his nose.
Same thing, private property, no shot.
-
Dang, those pronghorn pictures reminded me of one I saw in MT about 17 years ago. hunted for him for 3 days without getting a shot. His left horn stuck straight out horizontally from his head and was at least 16", easy. The right one curled downward covering his eye and then curled underneath his lower jaw. He ran funny too. I think his covered right eye messed with him. He ran kinda sideways and never in a straight line. Would have loved to kill that freak.
-
Here is a BT that was one of three from the same gene I killed.
-
Here is another out of the gene pool.
-
He busted off an inside mainbeam with 4 more points on it.
-
Not out of the same gene pool but resembles the others.
-
Does this one count?
-
A little bent

-
I have pics of a bull almost exactly like that one. This was probably 2 or 3 winters ago. He died later that winter when another bull gorged him. His skull is in the viewing center.
-
I remember seeing that spike up at the feed lot. Always wondered what he'd look like if he'd had a chance to grow up.
-
A buddy of mine got this bull on his farm last fall.
-
sweet a rocon

sweet a rocon
:yeah:

This is a doe antelope I took in WY last October. You can almost put a finger through the left horn.
-
(https://hunting-washington.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10270/hannegans_009.JPG)
I took this one with my bow a few years back. Not weird horns but look at what is left of the ears.He also had one eye that was white like a cue ball. My wife accuse me of shooting a handicaped deer....
-
Well, I guess I can add a few to this thread ;)
This first buck is a buck I called in and killed on the most *censored*y day of hunting season, super stormy and rainy , trees falling down....you get my drift. I called in from work that morning :chuckle: Killed him just after a break in the weather.
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi112.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fn185%2Fcharliestaxidermy%2F100_256335.jpg&hash=fb2f67d901f533153a29d2476c565c1c9c6baf87)
This Next buck is my very first "Freak" buck. I watch him before season and knew he was the one I wanted. Killed him the first week like clockwork. I did not mount the buck , it was before I was doint Taxidermy back in 95'
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi112.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fn185%2Fcharliestaxidermy%2FIMG_892725.jpg&hash=6d967819af677ab44115132e64ab2dd05281d81c)
This Buck would have lived if he wouldnt have looked up at me on the last day of season . I was on my way out and just happened to catch 2 deer below me in a cut, so I glassed them up and this guy was standing there, super nice spike. Iy was one of the bigger longhorns I have seen and figured he might have good potential if he made it through a few seasons and then he looked up at me and I saw the drop horn.....I couldnt resist :chuckle: It had been a tough season that year , I missed a real nice 3 point (I dont miss :bash:) and passed on some smaller 3's looking for a good buck.
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi112.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fn185%2Fcharliestaxidermy%2F100_404635.jpg&hash=56b29236413dd36e34fe35b6ea11de1458438f8e)

It must be something in the water up there Charlie, cause I know of a lot of retards that are from skookumchuck valley (especially pirates) :chuckle:
-
i like the apple mount
-
I was hoping you were going to post yours Charlie, those are cool.
-
spin05...I shot a muley this years and his left ear had a huge chunk gone. Well over half of his ear. but it was lengthwise and not short and stubby like yours. Did your buck come with a hearing aid? With those short ears, I am suprised he could hear anything.

-
Gringo31, I'm scarred!
2001 WA archery. I thought he was broke at first, but not the case! Best G4 to date; 14 2/8.
-
Wyoming a few years ago. Also has a sticker on the same side as the extra point.
-
I'm pretty sure those downward pointing pronghorn horns are caused by a shed from the prior year not coming off correctly. Then as the new horn grows in, it pushes the old horn off. However the weight of the old horn causes the new horn to tip downward. That would explain both the downward point, and the kinda mushed up shape.
The gun shop in Gillette Wyoming has a full body mount of a pronghorn with the old sheds sitting under the new growth, hanging downward like that. I'll try to get a photo when I go back in October.

a friends near pomeroy
-
Had this Blacktail in my yard a couple years ago.. Double Drop tine on the right and one of them forked right above his eye.
-
Here's another shot of him..
Had like 5 small eye guards on the left. Awesome buck.
The dirt bag neighbor shot him off his porch over a pile of apples on opening morning..
-
Shot this whitetail in MT a few years back and he forked on top of almost every point and had some black on his tail. Had some Mule Deer in the gene pool somewhere.. Have seen quite a few crossed bucks in the area I hunt over there.
-
Thats a cool buck there RJ!
That blacktail was amazing!
-
The dirt bag neighbor shot him off his porch over a pile of apples on opening morning..
why does that make the neighbor a dirt bag?
-
For reasons unrelated to hunting the guy is a dirt bag..
It's a great buck and I'd love to have him on my wall but personally I would rather scout, camp, hike in, and pack out a spike before I would shoot the neighborhood buck from my porch.
He's also such a good shot that he shot it in the butt at 6 yards and it ran about 500 yards through the neighborhood bleeding everywhere and ended up dying on my buddies porch. Took him 2 hours to figure out what happened and where it was.
To each his own but that's just not my thing. Would rather enjoy watching them all year.
But that just my two cents..
-
That was a gagger of a bt!!!! To bad he went like that......
-
brothers bull from the salmon area
