Title: Fishing around Cashmere?
Post by: EastWaViking on July 12, 2009, 08:18:40 AM: I am looking for a place to take my kids fishing this week while we are visiting the Cashmere area. Last year we fished Fish lake up near Leavenworth and it was ok. We are looking for any little lake where we can bank fish for anything, trout, spiny ray, it doesn't really matter as long as the kids can catch something. My mother-in-law said Beehive lake might be good, but she isn't really known for her fishing information.

Post by: Big D on July 12, 2009, 10:09:52 AM: Catches at Beehive consist mostly for smaller 8" to 10" Rainbows & Cutthroats. There is plenty of shore access all the way around the lake. Early in the season Beehive was hit really hard by the locals. I'm sure you could still catch fish but the fishing will be on the slower side. Weekends have still been getting heavy pressure. Beehive is under Selective gear rules now.. Changed to this on July 5th.

Chance at trophy sized Triploids using power bait on the bottom. A little closer would be Roses Lake just outside of Manson. (About an hour drive from Cashmere) Roses Lake has a very mixed bag of game fish: Trout, Catfish, Crappie, Bluegill, & Perch just to name a few. Roses also has a lot of bank access.

Pretty sure artifiacial only is correct.

Post by: Slider on July 12, 2009, 02:32:16 PM: If you just want a lake to drive too with the kids look at Clear Lake in the stemilt basin. Fish Lake by Lake Wenatchee is kicking out fish right now but watch out for the skeeters.

Its not that long of a walk but once agian...selective gear rules went into affect on the 5th.

Darn near every creek, river or lake in the whole Wenatchee valley is catch and release after July 5th or it is closes waters. What gives? Am I spoiled living in NE Wa were a lot of lakes are open year round and there are very few restrictions on any body of water? Is this typical of most of the state? It stinks I know that. I guess I'll leave the fishing poles in the car, put on my lederhosen and dance around the Maypole in Leavenworth instead. ;)

These would be my suggestions. Roses with Green Power Eggs on a slip rig; Rufus with Rainbow Power Bait on a slip about 15-25' from shore (think close).

Post by: Fishhunt223 on July 13, 2009, 07:27:51 PM: Roses might be okay, wapato and dry in the same area could be good too. Lots of spiny rays up there and some huge trout in wapato especially. You could also fish on the I-90 Bridge in moses lake. I havent been there in a few years but you used to be able to catch lots of perch and crappie.

An hour or maybe an hour and 15 mins if you run into traffic. No further than any of the chelan lakes.
