Title: Elk Class at Wilderness Archery
Post by: Skillet on July 13, 2009, 08:23:14 AM
Thanks to Rocky and Jim for putting on a great class yesterday.  I met some great folks, and learned a lot - those guys can call, man.  Now if I can only get my bugle to sound like a real bull BEFORE he has an arrow in him...

Ditto what Skillet said. Excellent class. Thanks Rocky & Jim.

Rocky makes a real bull jealous.  For those in the southern half of the state you can catch them at xXx Archery in Rainier this weekend.  It is well worth it.

I agree completely. It was a great class. I wish I had a video of the class. I know they were videoing some of it so maybe they will offer a dvd soon.

I had never used any diaphragm calls before yesterday and now feel like with a few more hours of practice I could be respectable in the field. Thanks to some one on one coaching from Rockie.

Well worth the money especially with the free calls and door prizes.

One of the guys in the class said he used a small knife to bone out a elk. Jim Horn said he had just gotten one as well. I wrote the name down as "Haviland" but when I search for it nothing comes up. Do any of you know the knife he was talking about?

Supposedly it is like a scalpel and may have replaceable blades.

Any help would be appreciated.

It was great,  a lot of info to digest.  Wish I had went to this eminar a few years back,  explains a lot about the different bugles and elk calls and what they mean.  Well worth the time and money,  thanks again to Roger and of course Rocky and Jim.

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many of us from this site at the class.  I met NWHunter and one other whose name escapes me at the moment.  That was one awesome class.
