Post by: WAPITIHUNTER on July 16, 2009, 10:49:06 AM
Bow- Hoyt Hypertech Redline cam. 330 fps +- IBO, 5 1/4" Brace height, 30" draw length, 80 Lbs draw weight, Winners Choice string and cables. D loop. String Leaches, Top Gun 7 pin sight, Trophy Taker fall away rest, Stabiliser & Limb Saver STS system, Peep sight and wrist sling.

Arrows- Goldtip Biggame 100+, 29 3/4" length, 90 degree 4" 4 fletched.

Total arrow weight with broadhead is 485 grains.

Broadheads- Wasp Bullets 100 Grain.

Quiver- Hoyt 6 arrow quiver.

Due to unforseen events in my life the MONSTER XLR8 will have to wait. So the bow that I have used for the last 8 years is getting called into action yet again. I think she's got another bull in her near future. :chuckle:

In September it will be with one of two bows.

Pacific Yew Classic Take Down longbow 58# @ 28"
A home crafted Ipe and Bamboo longbow which is 54# @ 28"

Broadheads and Arrow Setup
I carry 6 arrows which are 165 grain Zwickey Eskimo broadheads with a 50 grain weight on the front (that's 215 grains up front) which are connected to the Carbon Express Heritage 250s

I use an older Black Widow brand bow quiver which has been converted into a Fred Asbell over the shoulder style.

WAPITIHUNTER,

The Silvertip is certainly a top of the line bow.  I have shot lots of bows by lots of bowyers, and I can tell you that this bow is at the very top of my list in craftsmanship and performance.  I personally have about 10 trad bows in my stable, but the Silvertip is my go-to bow.

PM me if you want more info.

Thanks. It even looks better when it has Blood all over it. But It's even better for relocating your arrow after it hits the bushes or drives most of the way in soft ground. A Much Easier Arrow recovery. :IBCOOL:

I agree on the stupid law part, but I disagree with the possibility of fighting it. The law is pretty clear on no electronics and a camera could be construed as an optical site.

For deer I'll primarily be using a 51 lb Columbian Blacktail longbow with POC arrows tipped with 125 grain Magnus II broadheads. At some point I also hope to use a new 48 lb Blacktail recurve, but that will depend on the accuracy of my shooting (I'm just learning how to shoot a recurve).

The compound I'll be using for elk:

Bow: Mathews Switchback XT (set at 65 lbs)
Rest: Fuse Whisker Biscuit
Sight: Trophy Ridge Rhino
Stabilizer: Fuse Axium
Release: TRU Ball Copperhead
Quiver: ArrowWeb Two-Piece

Thought I'd put this in so you all can say "what the heck is that ?"  :dunno:

I shoot an old Martin Dynabow (half recurve half compound). Vintage 1980.

Draw length 31.5"
Pull weight 65 lbs (don't know what the dropoff weight is but holding a lot more than these modern bows)
Carbon Fiber arrows (210 fps)
Muzzy 125 gr 3 Blade Broadheads
3 Pin sight
Still using a finger tab/glove (haven't tried a release yet)

Just converted to sights two seasons ago (shot instintive my whole life) because I just couldn't get consistent, I know, hard to believe after having this bow for so long. I'm thinking my eyes are just getting old and couldn't find the target (at least that's my excuse !).

Good luck to all of you.  The bewitching hour is upon us eh ?

Just switched from a Mathews MQ32 to the Mathews Monster.  Love this bow!

Accessories:
TruGlo Range Rover 3-pin
Trophy Taker drop away
Beman Black Max Elite 300's
Montec 100's
2" Blazer vanes

Total arrow combo is 490 grains.  Bow is set at 70 lbs.  292 FPS.  Going to go a little heavier on the arrow/broadhead combo whenever I run out of the current setup.  Might be awhile.....

Any bow/arrow combination will kill an animal as long as the shooter is comfortable and confident in his setup.  Speed really means nothing.  Shot placement is everything.

An old High Country Brute Force set at 75 lbs
Spot Hogg 5 pin sight (sold my 7dp)
Trophy Taker rest (the original one)
Decked out with Simms Vibration stuff
Homemade stabilizer
Gold Tip 5575 shafts with 2" Blazer vanes
Slick Trick 100 gr broadheads
Custom made string
All of my bow gear, with the exception of arrows, are around 10 years old.
It aint nothing special but it has never failed me and has taken a lot of critters for me.  It is still Robbin Hooding arrows and pissing me off.   :chuckle:
I keep threatening to get a new Hoyt and keep my HC as a back up but can't bring myself to do it yet.  I guess I'll have to break my old one first.  :P

I've got a "new" 2002 Marting Jaguar, never been shot (not even an incidental dry fire).  The bow's not a speed machine by current standards (291 IBO) but it's a 55-70lb w/ 30" draw , whisker biscuit, and tru-glo sight.  I'm shopping for arrows now and plan to get in practice for 2010 turkeys and deer.

I bought it a few months before getting married in '03, and it's funny how I've been slowly getting the rig setup between kids and careers :'(. I try give the bow a few draws each week just to let it know I haven't given up on returning to my teenage hobby of archery.

Update 12-2-09
Got my bow back after getting a d-loop and peep installed. Next step, launching the Beemans at a target for the first time in years.  This 'll be fun!
