Title: Scouting tommorrow!
Post by: 180-GRAIN on July 17, 2009, 05:56:43 PM: Going scouting tommorrow. I dont have a great camera but I will try and get some decent pictures. I'm going to a spot where I seen over 30 bears in four outings last year, 33 to be exact so hopefully they are still using the area.

Holy cow thats a ton of bears.

Are you sure you didn't see the same one 28 times :chuckle: :chuckle:

Post by: 180-GRAIN on July 19, 2009, 10:15:29 AM: It's an area with three clearcuts, two about sixty acres one about 30 acres. I'm going up around stevens pass. Yep iceman if your talking about last years bears they were both little small but I will almost always take the first bear of the season even if it is small since I am a meat hunter first. After the first one is on the ground I hold out until I see a big one and the biggest I saw last year after the first one was about 250 pounds and I wanted something bigger. As for the scouting trip lots of poop and tracks but I did'nt see any yesterday berries were not quite ripe but in two weeks time I would think they would be perfect and the bears will be out feeding and showing themselves a little more.
