After reading BC Chasers post
http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,29742.msg360206.html#msg360206

I'm thinking of a few things I might look into changing in my setup, so I figured now is a good time for a what's in your pack thread, at minimum get to show off and maybe see something that makes a better idea than what you have.

Mine:
mountain hardware scrambler
lafuma extreme 600*
thermarest pad (if I'm feeling old)
eureka spitfire*
hiking poles (heavy metal ones, eventually upgrade to carbon fiber)

magellan triton gps
springfield micro compact (yeah, I know it's only a 45)
pocket knife
some super light headlamp, spare batteries

Caldera Cone stove to fit
titanium mug and pot
alcohol (note:need to try the stove with 151)
esbit fuel cubes

instant potatoes/mountain house/oatmeal
dehydrated fruit
baggy of gatorade mix or similar
baggy of coffee grounds
sufficient packs of lucky strikes
tobacco pipe (seriously tobacco)
flask of scotch or 151
few cans of beer
matches and 2 spare lighters

duct tape
paper towels
baby wipes

synthetic pants
cotton shorts
spare pair of socks
pack towel
3 bandanna/handkerchiefs

fishing
eagleclaw trail master
small spin reel
fly reel, spool of float and sink
12 oz of lures, flies, bobbers, forcepts, etc...
waders and/or sevylor trail boat (along with co2 life vest)

hunting
substitute in eberlestock skycrane* (with a spare spike camp duffle in the car)
rifle (32 winchester special/henry ar-7)
radios (if necessary)
game bags*
big knife
shooting sticks
orange vest

Are you taking a roll of duct tape?  If so think about this.  Take your trekking poles and right below the handle wrap it around as much as you want.  Then it is readily available and you are not carrying the whole role or even half.  I would not get carbon poles either, they are 2X the price and are only 4 or 6 ounces lighter.

It was more mine are failing and I have my brothers spare pair that would probably be mine for a 6-pack.

on the duct tape, about 10 feet wrapped around an empty TP roll (with paper towels shoved inside)

this is in your pack for a day hunt? if so to much crap, here's my day pack

3 knives
20 feet of rope
various methods of starting a fire if need be
2 sports bottles of water
gloves
small hatchet
gps
maps
compass (so i have something to play with when im bored if i get lost)
what ever call's for the particular game im hunting
couple dozen zip ties (they come in handy)
2 plastic garbage bags (nice heavy black ones)
hunting license and tags (dont forget these)
some sort of dry food (jerky, trail mix, more often than not sour patch kids)
optics cleaning kit
two small flash lights

and that's about it, and plenty for a day hunt. my guns don't go in the pack there on me and readily available as well as my binos. an over night or pack in trip is much different but how i read your post i assumed you were talking about whats in your usual hunting set up

littlebuf, my pack is pretty much set up like yours for a day hunt/hike.  The only things I carry different, is I always carry a couple of apples, an extra pair of socks, an extra t shirt and I have a 8x10 blue tarp folded down as small as I can get it and tied up.  Oh, and always a camera of some kind.

Like you if I am hunting, my binos, and guns are all on my person outside of the pack.

I organized my list by

i would have put camera on there but i only remember it about half the time  :bash: so it wouldn't have been an honest list. the other thing i forget often is a little bottle of hand sanitizer, i usually remember this right after i get done skinning the tail of a yote or gutting a deer so i start looking for a puddle

I always carry too much stuff. But you never know when you will need it.
Most importantly Game Bages in Archery season to keep the flies off your meat. Not much point in shooting something if the flies are going to blow it.
1. tags for game you are hunting.
2. Knife for gutting and quartering.
3 rope to tie it all together to get it out.
tape
toilet paper (been bandaged up many times with electrical tape and tissue paper)
emergency kit (of course that has its own list)
food and water
that should get you through almost anything affield.

Daypack
1.  Either 2 or 3 liter MSR drink system (depending on how far I'm going)
2.  Lightweight Cabelas rain coat
3.  Sometimes a fleece shirt if it is cold and I plan on sitting and glassing
4.  Stocking hat/gloves if it is cold (might be wearing the gloves but usually have the hat in the pack for sitting around and glassing)
5.  Parachute cord
6.  Adventure Medical Kits .5 (added a couple of blister thingys and extra ibuprofen)
7.  Petzl Tikka Headlamp and Cabelas small hatclip light (backup)
8.  Rangefinder
9.  Small Camera
10.  GPS, Map and Compass
11.  2 AAs and 3 AAAs (extra batteries for rangefinder and compass)
12.  Knife (one in pocket and one in pack)
13.  2 Garbage Bags (trash compactor type - they're really thick)
14.  Space Blanket
15.  A couple of Powerbars
16.  Sandwich or bagel (sometimes 2 if I leave in the dark and know that I'll be getting back after dark)
17.  Beef jerky or sometimes almonds
18.  Lighter and flint/steel
19.  Space Blanket
20.  Flagging (some bright color - pink or orange)

All stuck in a Badlands Superday or Osprey (if I want to be incognito - no camo)

For an overnighter (or 2) I put it all in a Gregory pack (5200 - overkill on size but I have extra room in case I need to pack something out)
Add: North Face Snowshoe 0 degree bag (or Kelty 25 degree bag in the summer)
REI Quarter Dome tent
Thermarest Prolite 3 sleeping pad
MSR Pocket Rocket with titanium pot and titanium mug
Spork
Freeze dried meals
Coffee and/or tea bags
Katadyne water filter with some iodine pills for backup
1 pair of extra socks
baby wipes

I carry a pair of Swarovski 10X42s and a Mathews bow with 5 arrows

This is an old thread but I thought I'd comment on What's In MY Pack. The pack was purchsed in that great back pack store in Leavenworth for $35. It's light, strong, and holds a ton. I have my sleeping bag, tent & fly, tent poles, shooting sticks, Twin Size Coleman air mattress, stove kit (note the home made alcohol stove - works great), wipes, extra socks, first aid kit, knife, flashlight, whistle, all purpose tool, MP3 player, binoculars, ammo, compass, extra knife, and a few other goodies.

I pack three days food (not shown), all dried - just add hot water.

The entire pack with food weighs 34 lbs. I also include a small water bladder.
Instead of this cooking pot I now use the Heineken pot. It's extremely light & compact; the entire cook kit fits right in it.
