Title: Sinlahekin, after the fire.
Post by: hunterofelk on April 22, 2007, 03:09:37 PM: I was wondering if anyone has seen the country around the Tiffany mountains this spring? Is it a disaster? Still a lot of snow? Lot of dead trees across the roads? I want to go look for myself maybe Memorial Day, see how much is still green.

Post by: boneaddict on April 22, 2007, 05:41:42 PM: I haven't been though I was pleasantly surprised when I was up in the November season for photography. I thought the lowlands or winter range was hammered but there was quite a bit still standing. I'm with you. I'm afraid to look.

Post by: hunterofelk on April 23, 2007, 04:41:35 PM: I looked at a map the forest service had on a web site and although the detail was lacking it looked like a fire line was built right along the ridge we like to hunt. I know some fires skip around and leave cover standing, I just hope that is the case there. The last time I was there I saw a four point buck just out of rifle range, but he had to be the heavest deer I've seen. Not big antlers, but blocky. A buck my friend got in that area was prime cut venison. I'm really anxious to go deer hunting this fall.

Post by: huntnfmly on April 24, 2007, 04:40:05 PM: I seen a forest service map of the fire and boneaddict your right it almost went to the border.I didnt know it burned so much.It looks like it did burn lone frank.Boneaddict could i pm you to maybe confirm some research info I have gotten in a area you might know? its farther east than were you like to hunt mule deer.You seem very knowledgable.Maybe you could let me know if its worth my time.
