Just got my Rem 700 back from the gunsmith. I bought it when Joes was going out for 400 so I figured I had a little extra to put into it. Had the stock bedded and textured, the barrel floated, trigger dropped to 3 lbs from 7.25 lbs and Muzzle brake installed. It's a screw on brake and you can't even see the seam. I'm stoked to get out and shoot it, just waiting for a scope to come in.

what caliber?
good looking rig.
-
300 WM, he also worked up a load and graphed it for me! :IBCOOL: I know the gun will shoot well so hopefully the guy behind it will to! I got alot of advice and info from you guys! So I have to say thanks!
-
Thats a good lookin gun.
-
who's the smith?
-
Claude Kinard sp. sorry not sure how to spell his name. Not sure how much stuff he does I was introduced to him through a friend.
-
NICE!!!
-
Nice looking gun. What load did he work up for ya?
That brake looks pretty trick.
-
is he local around the puyallup area? ive got a riffle that i want to put a brake on for my dad
-
To be honest Littlebuf I'm not really sure! I will talk to my buddie to find out if he just does this full time or not, I dropped my gun off with my buddy and he picked it up so I'm not sure where he is. I'll find out for you!
-
that looks really cool..now with the break does that make it louder, not that it matters... :dunno:
-
They say it does, but I don't know really! He told me it took the recoil down to a .243  My scope is on order so it'll be a couple of weeks before I get to find out for myself. :'(
-
take it from me, it will be a lot louder. Use banded plugs when hunting and muffs on plugs at the range.
-
i'm shooting a 300wm with a brake and yeah it's louder, but the recoil is greatly reduced. i can shoot and never loose the target in the scope...i can watch where the bullets hit...significantly less than a 30-06.
some brakes are better than others re: noise.
-
It will be very loud! I used my uncles 7mm in PA one year and it is Magnaported. Wow, it was loud!
-
What was your reason for going with a muzzle break? Do you find your self flinching or is the recoil hard on your shoulder?
-
Nice stick!
I'm a believer in brakes on anything larger than about a 7mm Mag... if you can't see what happens after you pull the trigger, it's a lot tougher to know where the shot went... hit or miss.

mine came that way.
:dunno:
but it is nice to be able to watch where the shots hit in the scope.

Actually for me it was reconmendations, I'm not much of a firearm guy I like my bows but I figured I needed one nice rifle set up. I weighed all the opinions I got on them and decided that the lower recoil and accuracy outweighed the extra noise. I don't currently flinch but with the lower recoil it will hopefully lesson my chances of developing one and I like the idea of not losing the target after the shot. I always wear plugs around my neck when I hunt waterfowl and uplands and this will be no different. It doesn't take much time to put them in if I see my dog getting birdy or have ducks coming in. I figure I can put them in fairly quick out deer hunting too!

Who makes that Muzzle brake ?
-
Looks good so far

Who makes that Muzzle brake ?
Elk- I'm not sure who makes the brake, I have not gotten my invoice back from my buddy yet. It was a choice of the smith, whatever it is I'm happy with it, I like the way it spirals. As soon as I get the info I will post it all including the ballistic info.
-
that sounds great I'm having a rifle made and would maybe like to put on a nice muzzle break like the one you got.
-
For those who asked here's the info I have so far on the upgrades I had done.
Muzzle Brake is a Harrell's precision from back east somewhere, looks like they sell for about 30.00
Load Claude worked up for me is: 300 win mag, Hornady 180g Interbond, Fed. 215 primers, 76.8g of IMR 7828 pushing it at 3062 fps at the muzzle. Zero'd at 300 yrds with 8.85 inch holdover at 400. .18 MOA at 100 yrds whatever that means :dunno: Not sure how this compares to other loads but it sounds like it will do me just fine. I wouldn't think about taking shots at over 300 anyway and would rather be within 200.

That is an excellent looking 700, I love the look of the muzzle break, should help alot

Hello guys...anybody know how to get ahold of Claude Kennard or Kinard and where he is located? Was sure thinking on having a brake installed on my Ruger M77 Mark11 7MM Mag. Looks really sweet. Thanks
