Here's a few boxes I just finished for the Moultrie D-40, 1/8" steel, I made two boxes that attach to the tree with a ratchet strap and have holes in the box for a Python lock for security, and the other box is attached by a strap/pyhton or 1/2 lag bolts.
-
They came out nice. Congrats.
-
Those look pretty heavy duty.
-
Look great :) I don't know that I could do bettermyself. Thye are nice and heavy to keap them bears out!!
Anybody looking for a box would be smart to buy one of these!!!

Thanks for the compliments guys, I have two more boxes in the works now, and more if requested.
The boxes in the pics I notched out the box so I could put the hinges on the inside to make it look cleaner, would it matter to you guys if I put the hinges on the outside? trying to cut some fab time on these boxes, this would keep costs down all around.
-
you should sell these in the classifieds and/or make a little donation to the site if you're making money off of us. nice boxes...looks like good craftsmanship and heavy duty.
-
How much would you sell them for and how do you lock them to the tree?
-
How much do they weigh? whats your asking price? can you make "other" configurations? can/will you do a "bad ass" mossy oak paint job??- :chuckle:

their around $60.00, you can use a ratchet strap to attach and python lock for security or 1/2" lag bolts.

Not sure how much they weight, maybe 7-8lbs, I can make others if I have access to the cams, I'm not much of a painter either, PM me with what you have or need.

I have no prob making a donation, I'll see what I can do from each cam, I'm not doing to many of these right now, but this winter I'll be concentrating on them more.

if any of you D-40 owners are needing bear boxes let me know I still have some for sale in the classifieds, lowered prices today.

Nice work Jason. I dont own a trail cam because of all the stories of them getting stolen. Looks like you might have found a good solution.
-
How do you lock to the tree with just using a rachet strap?I'm not sure what you mean buy python lock? :dunno:
-
you attach the box to the tree with a ratchet strap and then to secure it from theft you run your python lock through the holes in the box and around the tree. I'll get some more pics up soon.
-
Nice boxes, If you were closer I would show you how to camo them. Mark

I just got my moutrie 5.0 yesterday, and was going to set it out this upcoming saturday. are the bears that bad with them? How high up a tree do you usually set them up?

yeah bears are pretty hard on them, but more than anything the boxes are used to keep humans from packing out with your camera.
nothing worse than being all excited to see what images your cam has captured, only to show up and your cam is gone :bash: .
-
Yeah I can imagine, its not only the money that you spent, but the time and the waiting!
-
Finished some more Moultrie D-40 Bear Boxes, if anyone needs a box or two I have some in the Classifieds.
-
looks good
-
I built mine for my reconyx and instead of using lag bolts I cut the threads off a couple of tree steps and welded nuts on the end they thread in way easier. nice boxes.
-
So does the camera just sit in the box loose or is it attached to the box ?
-
I would like to get a bear box if you have any more. Which classified ads?

It just sits in there, no straps or anything to hold it in other than the door.
