Hi Michelle. Just was looking at your website on proper field care of trophy. You say not to get hide wet. What's a guy to do hunting the west side as it is known to be wet ? What then ? Thanks.

I understand that the West side is wet.  Heat and Moisture do not play nice with each other when it comes to Capes and Hides.  It makes the hide a bacteria feeding ground pretty much and bacteria is what causes the hair to slip.

Best thing you can do is get the hide off the animal ASAP.  Get it hung up or spread out in the shade so it cools faster.  I have no objections to dunking it in a creek to keep it cool.  Just get it to a freezer or to the taxidermist ASAP.

You donlt want to dunk the hide into the creek and than ride it around in the back of a hot bed of your truck for several hours.  Or leave it laying in the sun.
