:dunno:
No luck on getting pics. Went below 3 miles down where I found Fresh Wolves Tracks between river and top TrailCamera where Cattles traffic to river to drink. :bash: I should have put between where Cattles are. Dang I was very CLOSE to get good pictures! Dang...
Here few pictures what I am working on catch a picture of them.
Next time I will move TrailCamera down nearly Aspen Lake instead North of McClurre Mt There is some different pack hanging out North of McCLurre and south of Poorman RD somewhere. But I found Another Wolves pack right at Metow Wildlife Recreation AREA below Aspen Lake also some south of Lake Patterson. U should be able to find them somewhere. ;)

You need to stop hitting your thumb with the hammer. :chuckle: :chuckle:

keep after it mulehunter, would be great to get photos on here of wolves, and you know where to find them....
-
that track looks a little small to be a wolf to me. im no expert though.
-
I think those wolves are smaller than the Idaho wolves....mulehunter knows where they are at, it is only a matter of time and he will probably be posting photos...he knows landowners who also confirmed sightings and wolves howling in the same area....
-
The Patterson wolves, I BELIEVE are the gardner bunch which were Red wolves or the smaller natives. I've yet to figure out why they are where they are except the game is really concentrated right there. That pack has been around for decades but is growing in strength. They move around a lot. I doubt they will be there long. They are a different animal than the Lookout pack. I can't see his pics since I am at work, but just affirming kinda what bearpaw was saying.

This is all cool and stuff, but nobody is going to do anything. It's going to be like Idaho where our herds will be decimated before they allow any hunting. Do you think they will open a hunting season on 20 wolves? Nice picture though. Am I missing something? :dunno:

A buddy and I were deer hunting up north east on Winthrop at an area called soda springs 6 years ago and came across a wolf. Told a ranger we ran across the next day and he laughed at us, thought we were full of it, said there are no wolves here. It trotted by not more than 50 feet from us, was definately a wolf. Who's laughing now!

This has happened many times in the Methow Valley. Wolf sightings are not taken seriously by those you are reporting them to. They have known that the wolves were in the Methow Valley for several years and were told to keep quiet about it. There have been reports from different individuals that wolves were planted in the Methow drainage several years ago. It would appear that is still happening today.

damnit cows :bash:?? :chuckle:

:chuckle: I Totally Understand ya.. Our family talked to Dnr Forest and told them about it about 4 months before WDFW confirmed, DNR Forest laugh about it. Said NO way your thinking it was Coyote! Give me BREAK! >:(
So four months later, Biologlist start to work harder and found them, Confirmed. Well, See! We TRIED! See thats why People Never want this to be TRUE! :bash:

Keep this thread going, I wonder if anyone else has reported wolf sightings that have been laughed off? :dunno:
-
I had several that I never reported. Why, because I was afraid they'd shut the who damn drainage down like they did with the spotted owl. If you saw one, you kept your mouth shut. They wouldn't believe you anyway Any self respecting woodsman would have known they were here if they spent any time in the woods. They'd also note the change in things as of late.

back in 98 or 99 we lived in Ronald and spent a good amount of time in the general area hiking and camping.....on one trip we heard what I was certain was wolves howling.......we later found what appeared to be either wolf or wolf hybrid tracks..... I happened to be friends with a forest ranger at the time so asked her what she thought. She said that yes there were wolves in the area and no it wasn't being announced and in fact was being denied to keep the peace and give the wolves a chance. She also had recently seen a photo of a grizzly taken on Blewitt pass by a person who had no reason to fake something like that......we had heard from a few other people they had thought they'd seen a grizz but common wisdom was they were not that far south....so basically I don't believe what WDFW says I know what I saw and heard...wolves have been here much longer than they are saying.
-
Yep Run, was black bear hunting, after a gorgeous Red one up in the valley a few years back. I slipped in on "a bear" making a ruckus" and out stepped two grizz cubs and right behind them momma bear. I just backed out. Idabooner confirmed sign that looked like a large boar had been in the area as well. I just walked away mouth shut. One got smacked that year on Hwy 20 in his band new corvette and he was just laughed at.

wolfbait has a funny story I'd like to tell if he is game. Has something to do about rolling rocks and the forest service. LOL I think he was invlved in that anyway. LOL

99.9% grizzly bear sighting :chuckle: :chuckle:

Have not run across a wolf yet, but when I do, I am sure it was a coyote.............
I did run into a Griz up on Blewitt pass a few times and was told the first two times I was crazy, but the third time the Gamey admitted they were there but it was kept very quiet.
-
I saw a grizz up in Martin Ck off the flanks of Mt Valhalla near Stevens Pass over 10 years ago, was told by the FS wienies that it was a cinnamon phase blacky....I KNEW better...we were told to STFU and not scare the hikers.
I saw this one at about 15 FEET...he was stealing my trout stringer out of the creek where I was fishing.

now thats silly, the WDFW should be telling everyone they are there and to be careful....

I thought it was pretty stupid myself, but then again, this is WDFW.

It's much easier to find missing hikers if we make sure they carry those little bells and Bear spray.
We could just look at and smell the piles of Bear crap in the woods. :chuckle:

A few years back, a guy going over the loup loup to okanogan kept seeing this guy pulling one of those big culvert grizzly bear traps into or out of the JR camp ground. So he got the guys licence plate number and ask his friendly county commissioner what was what. The commissioner called the wdwl and ask and they said they had no one in that area, didn't know what he was talking about, so he called someone a little higher up. Come to find out the wdwl had released a collered grizzly bear and now they were trying to catch it agin, to prove there were bears in that area. So now ask me agin just how much I trust wdwl?
-
mulehunter...I know you will most likely be the person who will post the most photos.....keep those trail cams busy....
-
If they deny they are there that means it a free shot :P after all they said it must of been a black bear or coyote
-
I would like to add something to this thread.....I have a very good friend that was bear hunting above conconully and came across a wolf. he said there was no doubt when 20 minutes later they were howling. Has anyone else heard of wolves up there. Its only a few miles as the crow flies to the methow pack.
-

The Methow pack is the worlds largest wolf pack, upwards of 150 wolves in the one pack. Tell him to name the pack because, the WDWL are not in any hurry to find wolves, they want to drag the new "wolf pack" sightings out as long as they can in order to asure a very large wolf population in Washington. Part of the Methow pack is on MCclure Mt. tonight, howling up a storm, the main reason I am up at this hour. :bash: :bash: >:( :guns:

some nights I'm real slow to catch on ;) I do not recall where and what I was talking about. I think I will try to go on a coyote hunt later this fall though..... :o
-
I have relatives who claimed they saw wolves in the Twisp River Drainage at less than a hundred yards for several minutes...it wasn't until I heard them howl myself a few years later in the same area that I was convinced that their there, no doubt, 100%. Saw tracks and fragments of bone from a fresh kill, the chunk of bone had been regurgitated in the middle of the trail...should of saved it for DNA I guess.
-
I think the last five years WDFW have been really dumping wolves in the Methow Valley, more people are coming forward with having seen wolves being released. I wondered why the WDFW jump up and down so much trying to defend themselves. They sure don't want it coming out public what they have done. Lied to the public how many times now? Not that it matters, they seem to think they have no one to answer to. It is starting to screw their credibility all to hell though. First wolf pack in how many years? what are they claiming now? seven wolves in the Methow, they are starting to become the number one joke. I would guess the tall stories that they put in the papers are for the people who have no clue, people that would trade everything to hear the howl of a wolf. The same people who are selling there micro ranch livestock, and those who's dogs have been eaten by wolves and they won't report it because they love the wolves. I wonder how they are going to feel when they can't let their kids outdoors to play without standing by with guns. I bet they will really enjoy the country life then,eh.

Down here in the Southwest up in the Coweeman, we do alot of elk and deer hunting up past headquarters and when the big game is slow we go after the coyotes up there. We began howling one day and got several to answer back, then they all started to sing, it was really cool to hear them all together. Then one started to howl with a deep deep howl. All the coyotes COMPLETELY shut up. This one howled 3 different times. Never saw anything, but we hunted above Afton WY 3 years back in area G and on the Last day we heard this same sounding Howl, and the guys we were with said, ya there are several wolf packs up here....It was spooky then, and it raised the hair on the back of our necks here. Talk to any of the locals around here and I'm sure others have had the samw experience!!! Lets see what the WDFW has to say about the SW having Wolfs????
