Nice pics. See, that burned out area provides excellent browsing for the elk and deer. I think that we should let'em all burn (natural forest fires) and only protect the structures. Get rid of all that undergrowth, and it would open up a bit and deer and elk numbers would increase as the available feed increased.

Used to see herds like that in Little Naches,, but have not see one like that in a long while......
Watched a herd about that size get chased up a valley by a cougar once, it was a kinda cool.
the cougar gave up when he got kicked by a cow protecting her calf.

Most I've ever seen on the westside together was 80 head. Seeing a picute like that make my heart pound. :tung:

I would like to see a heard that size when hunting pic one and shoot. :)

If that's the same herd i think it is, my mom saved one calf by scaring a cougar off that was gettin' ready to make a leap. It's pretty frustrating watching them all year and seeing the calf #'s drop drastically.

BLUEBULLS, yeah... lots of cats up there in this area!

The biggest herd i have seen was in the Clockum. Back in 06 when I had the big bull tag. The herd that i shot my bull out of was about 30 elk. My son had the Peaches Muzzy tag last year and every bull that we ran into only had three or four cows, even the 7x7. I asked the Biologist about it and he said he was surprised there are lots of cows in the Taneum. Saw lots of bulls but not very many cows????

This group had at least 2 young 5x5s, a few spikes and forks, and a few nursing, one still had spots.
