Who has seen bulls shedding velvet this year.
I spoke with a bear hunter up in Nooksack that said he saw a big bull with Velvet hanging.
Anybody else?

It is TIME
-
Seems early still for the ones I have seen lately. Couple weeks.
-
They should be starting now and most should be done within the next 3 weeks. THere are always outliers. I stalked a huge 6x6 on Peaches on Sept 8th that was still in Velvet.
-
Hogsniper told me last year on the 29th of August he saw a big bull in Nooksack whose antlers were pitch black with ivory tips.
-
I saw two 6-point bulls in full velvet jogging along the road as I was driving through Teanaway on Friday morning. That was a most unexpected site! :IBCOOL:
-
My trail cam last year had most of the bulls shedding velvet about the last week of august.
-
In the Okanogan country this weekend I saw a 3" tree mauled. Definately fresh, if not earlier in the morning that I was there. Sure wouldn't think a deer rite now, but no sign of moose or elk in the area....ever.....?
-
I saw two 7x7's Saturday. They were both still in velvet
-
i was bear hunting today and saw a bull in full velvet. (no bear blood)
-
I was in the high country on Saturday in 356 and didn't see any rubs but also didn't have time to get far from the trail. However, I was thinking the same thing... it has to be close to being TIME! Fall was definitely in the air up there on Saturday (misty rain, lower 40s at dawn, warmed to maybe 60 during the day).

Seen 3 bulls last Thursday in full velvet. Last night, saw one bull with full velvet and another was fully rubbed clean. :dunno:
-
I hiked into an area on Saturday that had several old old rubs from years past and two very fresh rubs. It smelled like a barn yard in there. Elk droppings and tracks all over the place. :tung:
-
I posted it somewhere on here a little while back, but my buddy here in washougal (very creditable source) was 50yds from a 5 or 6 pt. staring at him for a minute or so, and it was all bone, this has been atleast 2 weeks ago.
-
saw 3 while in a bear hunting area, all bone and 2 were around the 300 mark
-
OH! :yike:

The longer my arrow stays in the quiver the crappier I feel! :dunno:

this next Friday through Sunday is the magical time here in the Southeast, I bet 80% of the bulls will rub in those 3 days... just something about it :dunno:
-
I saw two 6X6 buls together yesterday.
One was completely rubbed out and one still in full velvet. :dunno:
-
I haven't seen a bull for a couple of weeks (been out of town), but they should be getting close. I don't see any rubs yet.
-
I saw 2 5X5's last weekend both in full velvet.
-
Had pictures of five different branched bull on my trail cam last week all in full velvet, checking it tomorrow so I will let you guys know what they are like now.
-
No elk on the trail cam, but I did see a young bull today. Still in velvet. Found a fresh rub though.
-
saw 5 nice big bulls last night in the bumping unit, all of them still had perfect velvet. Should be about another 10 days or so around here for them to grow.
-
Just got word from a special contact up in the Nooksack......................................BULLS ARE RUBBING!!!! :yike:
I just wet my pants..... :'(
-
All of mine are still in velvet. I am looking at them as I type.
