Title: Sling Shot Bag or any Bow Backpack

Who has or carries a backpack with a Bow insert, are you happy with it? I am looking in buying the Eberlestock SlingShot Hunting Back Pack. Does anyone has this Backpack??

i have an eberlestock pack with the bow carrying features like the slingshot has. it carries the bow well and is reasonably simple to get the bow out of, but the purpose is for carrying the bow while you're hiking or something like that. if it were me, i'd be looking at something with a little more gear carrying capability in the eberlestock line, like maybe the X-1 or x-project packs, but i don't like hunting with only a fanny pack.

You got a good point, I just need something from camp to the top of the mountain. eberlestock has the ones I am interested in, are you happy with the one you got?

Post by: jackelope on August 21, 2009, 05:32:22 PM: yes i am, i have an X-1. it's a daypack sized pack 2200 cu inches or so if i remember correctly. uses the quickdraw bow carrying setup, also has a rifle scabbard which is really nice if you're a rifle hunter. also works well with tripods or fishing rod tubes.

I've got the rut buster and I really like it. I don't carry a bow....yet. :chuckle:

The E-1 is quicker and quieter access to your bow but the Cabelas pack holds it a little more securely. The Eberlstock is more comfortable and carries a gun a million times better. Hope this helps.

Even when walking in before dark or out after dark I still carry my bow in my hand. I figure if it's in my hand then I know where it's at and nothing bad can happen to it like accidentally whacking into something if it's on my back or unintentionally snagging it on something.

I have the same pack and bow and like it. The slingshot is a little awkward and top heavy with longer axle to axle bows though. It fits the DXT perfect and any other short bows just fine i would assume. Makes an awesome day pack!

Post by: bullcanyon on October 15, 2009, 06:16:19 AM: My buddy rolls with the sling shot and I'll punch him right square in the jaw if he ever packs it again. We got two bulls this year when he was there with this pack and it is good for a backstrap. A freaking backstrap is all we got in it. So he had to pack the head out. I'm a firm believer in taking out a full load on the first trip. The rest of the group runs badlands 2200 packs and one guy has the superday. Much better packs than the lil sling shot.

He seems to like his pack for hunting right up until something is shot. Now if you aren't getting too far from the road. Well than maybe it is the pack for you. I wouldn't own it myself though.

I prefer the Badlands because it is quiet enough (unless it is really cold) to wear while still hunting; the X1 is noticeably louder. It is a great rifle hunting day pack though.
