Title: Can I sell capes or antlers?
Post by: livtohutn on August 18, 2009, 06:57:17 PM
I have just started hunting this year, more for the meat than for the sport.  As I have a new family, and with the economy being this bad I can't really afford to have any animals mounted.  However I am wondering if I could sell the capes and antlers.  If so, is cash paid, or just credit towards taxidermy?  I would much rather just sell them instead of getting credit I think it will be a long time in coming until I can get something professionally mounted...
Thank you in advance for your response.
Scott

Capes should be in excellent condition and do not have a lot of repair work to do ie: cutting up the briscuit or slashing the neck , I must be able to look at the cape so if frozen will be skeptical of purchasing.

Whitetail – have plenty will not be buying any this year
Blacktail/Mule deer  -
16-18.5” – 75.00
19-21” – 85.00
21.5 and larger – 95.00

Elk
23-27” – 100.00
27.5 – 30 – 125.00
30.5 and larger – 135.00

All capes must have hunters name, license number and tag number.
I will only PAY CASH  for specimans, I will not give credit towards work you want completed. If you want work completed by me we can keep transactions separate in my opinion that is the best way.
At this time I am only interested in 3-5 capes of each species so if you get one let me know…

Thanks
Joe

3. Purchasing or Selling Wildlife or Their Parts:
Non-edible portions of wild animals and game birds may be sold or traded (antlers, hides, teeth), except for bighorn sheep; mountain goat; velvet antlers of deer or
elk; or the gall bladder, claws, and teeth of bear, except those claws or teeth permanently attached to a full bear skin or mounted bear or the raw fur of a wild
animal or the wild animal itself, if the wild animal, has been trapped in this state with a body gripping trap.
