Question for the wise...
Looks like I will find myself deer hunting in Georgia this fall. (do you know they have a limit of 10 does and 2 bucks per person per year???)
Anyway, I called F&W and they said you could use a muzzleloader during modern Firearm season in GA so I am toying with bringing my front stuffer along.
Has anyone traveled on a plane with a muzzle loader? Can you check black powder? I am assuming that would be a no. What about pellets?

Judging by some of LongTat's pics of his Florida and Georgia deer you need at least a couple of em to make a sandwich !! :chuckle:

I plan on donating the meat to Jack in the Box so they can use it for their mini-burgers.

You can bring the gun but I'm pretty sure you can't take the powder.
I was going to fly up to Spokane a couple yrs ago they told me then no powder.
Best you check with the airlines.

Pellets or loose powder are considered HazMat either in checked or carry-on bags so you will have to buy those in GA.
Do not forget to declare the firearm with your airline.

thanks, that is what I figured.

When I worked TSA any black powder/ substitute was considered hazmat and the caps #11, Musket or 209 were also hazmat. Just declare the gun and if you don't mind loosing the powder and caps you can try it. You may not have someone who is as familiar with muzzleloader and what is hazmat.
I would just by the caps and powder down there, but due to the size of the animals the 50 cal may blow away half of it.
Good luck are you by any chance going to FLETC?

Cool, I'll plan on buying all that stuff down there.
I had to google FLETC.... nope. Just going on a deer hunt in Southern Georgia on a lease a buddy of mine picked up.
Thanks again!
