Title: Grouse with a .17 Mach 2?
Post by: MtnMuley on August 27, 2009, 04:21:55 PM
I shoot a 17 hmr for grouse, and have been thinking about going to a 17 mach 2 instead.  Between 10 and 60 yards, my 17 hmr has 3" of variance.  When shooting them in the head, this can be tricky.  I don't want to go back to the 22 rimfire, because I like the way the v-max bullet preforms.  You touch any part of the head or neck, and it's dead.  I was considering a 22 mag, but would rather try the Mach 2.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I would think it would work fine, but only as you say, on head and neck shots.  I would not wanna hit them anywhere else with the 17mach2.

No, I hate grouse burger.  I am trying to prevent it when other knuckleheads use my gun! :chuckle:
