I threw on some new G5 Montecs and were practicing with them and noticed some of them had a whistling sound going down range. Has anyone else noticed this or hear of it. Is there any way to get them to quite down or do you have to go with a different broadhead?
-
They do have a hiss to them. I think it will be too late if a animal hears it. I've been shooting them 3 seasons now. :twocents:

I use the Montecs...I dont think whistling is much of an issue.
-
Have used them in the past and they do hiss, isn't just yours.
-
Never heard a whistling nosie but have heard plenty of thuds after hitting the side of a deer. good broadheads!
-
there is a little hiss, but like said by the time they hear it is already to late.
I took two elk in 2007 with the same broadhead

the new montec cs are at least sharp this time, yes they whistle. they fly great though. tried the hellraiser and flew great, not as noisy and are a ton sharper. i know a guy who double lunged a bull and took 50 minutes to die and no blood trail with montec last year. im shooting slicktricks and love them. good luck to you.

Dude, thats the Hiss of death! I wouldnt worry about it ;)

They just went on sale at Warehouse sporting goods. $5 dollars off a pack of 3.

I've heard other people talk about a whistling issue with their G5 Montecs. I am also shooting the Hell Raisers which look very similar to the Montecs but the Hell Raisers are slightly bigger.
-
Im shooting the 85 grain Montecs. I noticed a tiny bit of sound .

I shoot 100 grain montecs, and had never noticed the whistling being any different than other broadheads. I stuck my bull last year at 5 yds, so there wasn't much time to hear a whistle, just a thwack!

That's Wholesale Sports. I been working there for over three years, and I am also having a hard time with name change. ;)

Well i have been using them for the past five years. This year i switched over to the carbon steel montec. I never had an issue killin anything with the old ones but i am a big fan of the CS. There is a bear and a buck with little halos floating around that will let you know the CS montecs kill just fine.
