well, they've been there for awhile but now they're getting pretty thick. There are a lot of cows and calves being seen and a few bulls. a couple guys from our group saw 6 or 8 different moose just this weekend.
What do you think the odds are of us ever having a hunt up there?

my father-in-law saw 1 on the side of 12 opposite chief timothy a couple years ago, said it was a real small bull.
-
my brother in law has a cow and twins that hang out in the creek behind his place that is still within the city limits, havnt seen a bull yet :dunno:

It seems like most of the cows have calves so they're apparently being bred. I know a couple guy's that have heard bulls grunting the last two years.
wolves will probably eat them before they get built up. :(

God I hope not.
Would be great to have another area to put in for and not get drawn for!!! :chuckle:

my father in law lives on tollgate and sees them pretty regularly
-
hope so, cause the wolves will eat all the moose up here soon :chuckle:

We saw a cow moose while pheasant hunting between Pomeroy and the Snake River several years ago.

Unfortunately the wolves will be moving in from the Oregon side of the blues..... :dunno:

Saw a little bull last year up from Asotin walking toward us on a narrow trail. We stood on the side but he hit the brush after the stare down. No one in camp believed us when we said we saw a moose. On the same trip also saw what I thought was a couple wolves but it was so far away all I could say to myself was WTH was that. You're only a few miles from Idaho & Oregon down there.

my father had a calf moose walk through his shop and drink out of his fountain a couple of years ago and he live about 2 miles from chief timothy park. he has some pictures if i can find them i will post them.

I've seen a few there and in the outlying areas. I'm not sure they will ever get a population strong enough for a hunt. It's just not good moose habitat. It will never hold a high density of moose.

A buddy of mine saw a bull and two cows in the Blue Creek Unit opening day of archery elk. He heard them coming through the brush at him and was just about to draw when he realized they were moose, not elk...
We had a cow down by my house last fall, right outside of Walla Walla. I know she frequents the river beds of Mill Creek and the Walla Walla RIver, but have not seen a bull yet. We know there is one somewhere, because she had twin calves that got killed by the railroad a few years ago. :(

My in-laws sent me an article from the local paper about 4 years ago with a picture of a huge bull that sauntered through town (Waitsburg) a few miles North of Walla Walla. I was shocked that moose were within 100 miles of there.

couple of years ago we had a small bull that was running around the the farm country between Eltopia and Pasco one summer, the Tri-city Hearold interviewed a WDFW bio. they thought he came from the Blue MT. area ... dude was lost?....basin alfalfa in May is mighty tasty !!

We see one or two every year during elk season, usually cow and a calf....which means there's a bull or two in the area.Maybe someday we'll have a hunt.
