Title: No Luck for the Daughter
Post by: Grizzly95 on September 08, 2009, 01:19:26 PM
We went out every evening this last weekend and sat in our blind, one spike and one doe is all that came in. Had the daughter convinced to put the hurt on the spike, but he refused to give her a broad side shot. It was a perfect 20 yard chip shot too. Now the cam is showing them coming in the morning instead. Didn't spook them but the storm really had them on cautious. I am hopin' she gets a shot this year before she loses interest. Didn't get a shot last year either. Got some permission to hunt some little spots close to town, but they are really open. See what that cam has to say tonight.

I found a guy here in Spokane that farms and says he has a permit to allow hunters on his place until march. I am gonna dig a little deeper and make sure he is legit. He told me they took over 40 whitetail on one piece of his property, and it can't be much bigger than 20 acres. That is where I put the trail cam. I have 3 cameras out right now and am getting some good pics just after last light.

That buck was pictured in Newport, but as far as the valley goes we are checking a place an Saltese Flats. Went and checked the trail cam last night and only had a doe with some fawns. Did see 2 identical bucks about a mile from my cam. She would definetly like to find something closer to home to hunt, she doesn't enjoy the window time and getting home at 10pm, strange teenage girls :dunno:

I wish that was my sliding glass door, my tag would be notched, or hers. My cousin checks the cam since it is near his house, I think he takes a picture of the screen with his phone and texts it to me, his computer has been acting up.

I have some maps of the Freeman area, but I get confused when I compare the maps and can't decide if it is state land private land or something else. I have always headed North to hunt and never really spent much in that direction. Not enough to be comfy in anyway. I would like to know more on the area if anyone is willing to lend me some time and help on the area, but I don't want to step on any toes. My main concern with this season is to get my daughter in on a deer, would like to see her whack a buck, but I am not gonna be picky. I guess it's more her decision.
