So i went out this morning to chase some grouse again, and didnt kick anything up all morning. But it was a great day and i was enjoying a nice day hike in the mountains when i noticed two squirrels running back and forth across the road about 80 yards ahead of me. As i approached closer i realized that these were not squirrels, but something like a martin, fisher, or weasel. Regardless of what they were they were now about 20 feet in front of me, two of them giving me the stare down and making a chirping noise, i thought i would snap a few pictures of them while they were holding still, bad idea, they both ran right towards me, i had to yell at the little devils to make them veer off about 3 feet from me. they played this game again and again, each time they were getting bolder, and yelling no longer worked, it took a jabbing motion of a shotgun to send them running away, the closest they got was propably 2 feet away, i think i was near there den or something. It was kind of cool to see though ive never seen these guys in the wild before. They were aggresive little buggers though. Oh yeah on my way back down to the truck i flushed four grouse, and knocked one down and his comrade was graced by a tree. It was a great day
Here is one of the monsters

Oh yeah my bird got stuck in a tree, i had to get creative,

I believe that is a weasel. One year when my dad was hunting up in Canada he had one come check him out. They ended up sharing a snack of jerky together. The weasel would dart up his leg take some jerky and go eat it under the log he was sitting on. He said it was pretty cool.

Yup your right, i googled it, it appears to be a long tailed weasel. LoL the last thing i wanted was to be a playground for them to crawl on, and i have no doubt they would have crawled up my leg; they sounded like they were upset that i disturbed them. Heres one after a high ya kicking motion after the second attempt to run up on me. and my grouse's final landing place :bash: i got creative, it was on a steep ridge, it doesn look like its that far up in the pic, had to stand on my tip toes and use a old tree top snag that was nearby to knock it down.

Did you go the upper road or the lower road?

Did you go the upper road or the lower road?
I took the upper one, it was up above the second clearing where we spotted the cougar a few years back, ive been thinking about hunting the lower one for a change of scenery
