well, when will we see the first monster archery bull this year? judging by how they reacted to calls last weekend I'd say real soon. I have a feeling 3dvapor will whack a toad.
How many 400" bulls do you think we'll see from WA. this year?
my guess is 3+
-
I'll say one just because people seem to be trigger happy this year. I think we'll have a batch of 380's though.

I know you've found on close to that but you'll never get a tag!!!
oh yeah, post up some pics of your little honey hole.

See, the way they react to my calls is by running away.... LOL I have got to figure this out!
-
one monster bull is already on the ground ;)
oh wait... you said 380' not 180.... :P
-
hey mrmykiss, this is the only look you're gonna get from that big guy. :chuckle:
-
I'll take that shot...from 5 yards. I'll turn him into an "Elk steer"!
-
Wow. Nice Bulls. My Guess is 1 Bull over 400". :twocents:
-
I am hoping BK dave gets his +380-400+ early next week so i can help him drag it out. :chuckle:
-
Dang those are big bulls! I wish someone would arrow a world record archery typ in there!

why would you even wish for something like that it would be nice, but at the same time it would put wa on the map with states like utah, arizona and new mexico where everybody would be applying every year, draw odds only get worse with every big bull taken as more non residents take notice
-
I think WA is actually pretty safe... as long as they keep charging $300 to get a bonus point!
-
2 or 3, maybe 1 from an area, not known for big bulls :hello:

:yeah:
Who the heck would want to pay $300 a year to hunt a spike. Or to just to put in for a preference point.
-
What's the word on the auction tag this year for elk?
Didn't WA have the record archery bull for a short time a few years ago until someone in Utah shot a bigger one that same year? I thought that the WA record is well over 400" for archery.

I say 1.
Agree with Bone's "trigger happy" comment. :hunt2: Combination of tag+opportunity+guy-who's-willing-to-wait-out-the-sub-400"-bulls = not many.

you and bone make a good point but I know a couple die hards who will be working hard for a 400.
a 380" bull sure does look good to most guys :o
-
guys that pass up 380's must like tag soup

I've spent a lot of time with him scouting in the last few months, and while we have seen some good bulls, nothing over 380". :(
I was with him til monday when his partner came over and we saw some really good bulls. He will shoot a good one, but the important thing is that he is happy with what he gets. Who knows, he may already be done. :dunno: ;)

I hope he kills a good, seems like a real elk savvy, deserving guy.
I must have met you up there friday night :hello:
-
Yeah, I was there, you had a lot of good info. I almost didn't leave monday, but I had to.
-
400" is a pretty tall order, but we'll hopefully have a cool story and some photos to share in a couple weeks after my dad's hunt over there.
He's never killed a bull, so I plan on carrying the bullets for him!
-
yeah we are safe, cost to much to apply and odds are horrible!
-
I say we don't see a member here kill a bull bigger thank Travis'... Maybe bigger than Charlies but not with archery gear...
There'll be 2 bulls shot over 400" this year and that dont' include tribal kills....

I don't know... Northwest hunter is a die hard...and there's a couple good ones real close to him...
I'm excited, can't wait to see what's gonna make me so jealous
-
Passing up a 380 bull would be very silly....unless you KNEW there was a bigger bull and you had some pretty good intel on where you might be able to find him... But a 380 bull is a special bull for sure!
The archery "typ" record has been in MT for a while, then recently went to ... AZ? I think... somewheres in the 418ish or so? cant remember... NT... must be UT or AZ?

I feel stupid for passing a 320 bull last year for a 350, then not notching a tag.
-
records are made to be broken... I'm not all about score. if I had a tag, I'd shoot the first bull that I would like to look at every day for the rest of my life.
It's tough to kill a 400" if you shoot 380's, but i would.
-
These bulls made it through last year and they are both 400+ Just waiting to see who bags them. Here is some video me and my buds took in Nov 2008 on a deer hunt.

I also know a guy who drew a rifle tag for one of those units down there.... I wouldn't be surprised if he knocked one down either, he's a friggen die hard when it comes to hunting hard...

Any 400" bulls yet?

Any 400" bulls yet?
I HEARD talk of a Giant shot out by hanford. Dunno if its true, haven't seen any pics :dunno:
-
there was a 400 inch monster shot on roberts ranch a week ago or so. Shot by a really old guy, like 50 or so. I hear it may be bigger than the burt pence bull shot on martinez a few years ago.

Your gonna break alot of 50+ year old's hearts calling them really old. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Oh, man. I remember when I though 50 was "really old"... :chuckle: :bash:
-
Havent heard of any monsters being shot out of the blues yet.... I know of one real good one but no record breakers... anybody else got any intel on the permit holders from this site?
Michael

Yeah that. My brother in law is friends with the guy. Initial score was 420" +/-.
-
They aren't on the firing center, and Martinez and half the silver dollar is black so I guess that leaves Roberts. :dunno:
-
Yep. That is what I was told as well.

I was told from a reliable source the Governor's tag holder shot a nice bull just out of Dayton. 436 gross
Havent seen any pictures yet.
-
Dad has a Big Bull tag for wenaha west anybody have much bugling luck up there?
-
i know the first question was archery monsters ,but i was wondering if anyone shot a monster with a rifle in the new rifle bugle hunts?
-
I know of one bull shot on one of those permits.. scores in the 340's. They called it in. Hunters 1st elk.
-
I know of another raffle bull that went 350 6/8".... great bull....
Michael
-
Nice...There are a few bulls still running around...I have heard of a couple bruisers seen recently by muzzy hunters... :)
-
I saw a pic of the bull that was killed on the robert's ranch, it is absolutly INCREDIBLE bull. Surprised its not on here yet :dunno:.
-
where's the Robert's Ranch?
-
I need to retract my statement. The big bull was shot on bz's land not roberts. I dont want to get anyone in trouble. The roberts ranch is north of sunnyside a few miles.
-
thanks dawg
-
Yea I don't know for sure which one it was, but its a giant.
-

I think there's a pic of that bull at the SPortsman's Whorehouse in Kennewick. Date it was shot corresponded with the rifle-rut tag. Blue Creek Unit. Looked about 340 (hard to tell from the angle, straight on). Shot with a pump-action rifle.
-
don't know
-
I think there'll be few going down early next week....
I know a few guys who are after big bulls and only big bulls and I'm guessing that a couple of them score.
I know of a couple 400+ from WA this year but I bet we see a couple more soon.
now we wait.....
-
I got to see first hand the roberts ranch bull it is big, it has a broke g3 on the right and a small g2 on the left only 7in. Should gross 418 or so not sure on the net and it was not on black rock no good bulls off there this year yet, I will try and get some pics of the bull and post them.
by the way what a great site
