p.s My Local Wildlife officer has seen and Inspected my bow Cam to make sure it is not a laser aiming device. I was clered to use it.

here's the Bow cam Video from the Muley kill. Its nothing Fancy and I'm no editing pro. But i think you folks will enjoy the vid. I was cleared by my local Game Warden to have the cam on my bow. He inspected it to make sure there was no laser aiming device on it and that it was only for filming. So I'm legal. The sound you hear is the Vibration from the riser transferring to the bow cam waterproof enclosure. This was a 50 yard shot and the Buck never heard the shot until the Grim Reaper hades was ripping through him.Cool vid.
I'm not doubting what you wrote, but i did not know the wardens could or would do that, check and make a judgment of legallity over what the regs say, do they give you a note saying that its ok?? And if they can make those decisions regardless of what the regs say that just shows that they can interpret the laws the way they want to..

I mainly hunt Lincoln, so I'm not overly worried. But if i went to Spokane or another area with multiple Wardens, Then i would not have the cam on my bow but on my head. He said that they are looking for electronic devices that emit a laser to help with pin pointing Animals. That would be unethical and unsporting like. . Have you guys gone into your local Game Headquarters and have your bow inspected? Just tell them that its for filming and no laser beam is connected to it. There's the Law and the letter of the Law. Just because something states that it is illegal doesn't mean that someone gets a ticket or arrested. This is called "Reasoning" A good cop know that many things in the regs are on the gray line right now. just like with the carrying concealed while archery deer hunting. you are supposed to have the back up gun concealed with a concealed gun permit. But if they see you with the gun in a holster on the outside of your body exposed. They won't tag you for that even though it says its illegal. you can carry concealed only. But he said that order comes straight from headquarters.Now if i go and hunt in a area with several different wardens. I might get a ticket. some Gamey's don't have that "Reasoning" Skills and might be too happy to fill his ticket Quota. lol. A intelligent officer can see that a bow cam can't be used for lazing a deer. You guys need to have a meet and greet with the officers that you would meet out in the field. get to know them. If they tell me to take it off. I do so. Its only held on with two ties. You need to have you bow with cam on it inspected by a gamey for the area you hunt. See what they say. Next time the 3 yr. rules and regs process comes around. we need to meet and get the electronic devices regs to to be removed. I didn't know there were other folks out here that like to use bow cams?

I am still confused, i did not know that the wardens could make adjustments to the regs based on what they think the law should be, i thought they were to uphold the laws the way they are written, yes enforcement officers have the descretion to make judgments and reason, if they think a violation deserves a ticket (not unlike a traffic stop) based on the contact during the violation, but i am still not understanding how an enforcment officer can issue a written letter of use allowing as in this case the use of an electronic device to be used when the laws says that they are not allowed, it does not say they are not allowed unless you get a note? I also thought that the laws written covered all hunters, in all counties and all gmu's within the state of washington and were not subject to an amendement by a simple letter of approval, would the warden not have to get an ok from his captain that in effect would then have to be approved by the wdfw chief that an individual would be allowed to have a device that per the regs is not allowed., allowed for this person and in doing so a precident would be then then set to allow everyone to have the same right?? I would like to have a bow mounted cam and not get cited for it, a copy of your letter of approval to take with me to the office would be great. As i hunt multiple units in the state i want to be able to have a sweeping letter of approval that will cover me in any unit..
Wow i'm surprised that it would make all this hoopla. I don't hunt out of my area. And if i did i would remove it. I'm gonna contact him and tell him about my experience using a bow cam for the first time. I'll probably remove it for the rest of my hunts.

It does serve a reminder to all that caution should prevail when posting kills stories and pictures. Use the utmost judgement because you never know who is looking and what they will pick up on. Everyone wants to see pictures and then they home in on something and start shredding the hunter that psoted them. Gamie is a good guy and he has a tough job, let's hope all turns out well.
