workhorse camera and worth the price.  Not the best quality pics but a good one for leaving out for a couple months at a time or just another set of eyes in the woods.

I agree..  For the price they are good cameras.  The motion trigger is good..  maybe to good..  Had a single pine needle come to rest on top of one of mine and was barely hanging in front of the sensor and it took 1800 pics in 4 days.  :bash:

Wish I could have made it there today..  just did'nt have time..  I did stop at the Sport Warehouse in the Vally Mall..   only Moultrie they had was the I60.  I have a D40 and it does a great job for me, so wanted to pick up another one.

Had mine destroyed this last week.  A bull thrashed it and broke the corner hanging points off.  It was dangling from the tree.   Slow trigger speed but other than that mine works good.

I own one and liked it, wasnt to keen on the battery life, they have slow trigger speeds, good for bait or other stoppers in front of camera. I now have 2 wildview 2.0 will never buy another moultrie D40,battery life is 25x and same trigger speeds, pretty much the same, but way longer battery life

Can you plug the wildveiw into a TV like you can with the moultrie?I saw at cabelas you can buy a combo pack of wildviews for $120. I have 2 moultrie's, (Cabelas) moultrie 5.0 and a D40, love them both, good battery life and take pretty good pics.

theres a reason why you get two wildviews for $120 :chuckle: I have a wildview IR 3.0 and it has had problems since I bought it, takes a lot of white pics day and night, has a slower trigger speed, it does have a little better battery life than my D-40, but the D-40 takes better pics, has faster trigger speed.

my d40 wont hold battery life even with minimal pictures.  Loses 20% of battery over night with zero pictures.  Know a guy that has a small wildview trail cam and loves it.

How long do your batteries last from the time you put them and until they are dead?

I have several friends who own the wildview 2.0, probaly around 10-15 cams. never had problems with them, batterys will last over a month or more. Now my moultrie, 10-13 days max, winter 3 days. I have had issues with my moultrie over the years

Now, Maybe,,..... I am just lucky..... I have 2 Moultrie D40's and used them this year. From July through the end of Sept i have only changed batteries in them once with plenty of life left when I pulled them on Sept 20th. I have had hundreds of picures taken during that time on the High quality setting. No issues at all. Now trigger speed I am not sure of. I dont feel like I missed too many animals or got just butt shots due to trigger speed. I know for fact there are better cameras out there, but for public land hunting the price and quality are great if you ask me.

i will gurantee you missed pics, the trigger speed is way slow, the cams go into sleep mode after abit of no action, once something is detected it wakes up, no pics then when it gets another event it will take a pic, so if you had a lone animal travleing along, you will not get a pic with any of the low end cams, u pay for trigger speed, the I40 for $200 is about the cheapest u will get for a super fast trigger.
Are you using the 6v batt in the moultrie? my dad, myself and 2 friends have moultries, none of them last more than 14 days, this year I was getting 3-9 pics on a wallow before batts were dead in 14 days

I had a D40 once.  Too bad it got stolen.  At least the power would stay on for a few weeks.  Now I've got three Moultrie I50's and 1 Wildview 2.0 running and the wildview will chew up batts under a week and shut down.  The Wildview is now my unlocked "in-plain-view" dummy cam with a hidden I50 pointing at it in case someone has a mind to steal it.  Wildview's are POS in my opinion.  The Moultrie I50's have been going since June on the stock 6 D-cell setup and will often max the 2 gig SD card in about 3 weeks.  The only one I've had worse experience with is a Bushnell trail cam.  6 pics max and shut down.  Very frustrating.

theres the difference I50 is way different than the d40, my I40 will last from may til december with its batterys. The wildviews I own will last 50+ days, it matters what batterys u use, duracells last the longest

I have had my cabelas moultrie 5.0 since august 18th and it still had 60% battery life last time i checked it which was 4 days ago.I got my Moultrie D40 september 15 and it still had 90% when i checked it 4 days ago.I'm using durecell batteries. Maybe some moultries are better then other moultries! :dunno: I like both of mine so far.

The original d40 was a 6v batt, did they change it to c or d cell?

They actually take 6 D batteries. The D40 that is. But I have heard so many stories of stolen cameras and stuff like that, I think the 80$ investment is pretty good for what you get.
