Title: burris fullfield II ?

Post by: dbllunger on September 20, 2009, 09:23:55 PM: Have several and love them. If that is all you have or are trying to save a few bucks buy it immediatly. Use them on my varmint, kids, and just general guns. Excellent tracking and good clarity. Not a Gold Ring but not bad at all for the price.

Very good glass.
as mentioned the eyepiece rotates and is a bit annoying.
Mine live on high recoil rifles, and are much clearer/brighter than Leupold VX-1.

It has a couple of very light marks and also very slight ring marks just on the bottom. It is a VERY nice scope. I'm asking $250.00 shipped for it. i was thinkin bout buying the burris for my .300 remington ultra mag. but wasnt sure how it would hold up on a magnum caliber. was it hard to zero it in with your .338 mag?

One of mine lives on a Tikka 300WSM...6.5lb gun and recoil is ....noticeable.
Never needs adjustment.
The only part I don't trust completely are the Tikka factory mounts.

Replace the Tikka mounts with Sako, Warne or Talley mounts. The Tikka mounts are ok on the 22 cal rifles ( 22-250, .223)
The Tikkas do not work well with the high recoil calibers.

I actually have been told that the Pentax Pioneer is the same scope for less price. Have not looked into that but if it is it would be a good deal when you can get a 4.5-14x42 for $199.

Post by: MtnMuley on October 09, 2009, 03:54:40 PM: They're a decent scope for the money. Definately wouldn't be my choice though. :twocents: I've seen a buddy of mine go through 2 with his Warbird. He's now on his 3rd, only because Burris has stood behind their scope and for some odd reason he won't put a Leupold or better on it.

Wow!! :o I have two and like them. Never lost zero for me. I do prefer the nikons I own but I don't see anything wrong with the Burris.

That would really irk me. I have had good luck with them and I do like them but there are better to be had.

The FFII cost half the price of the Nikon.

I just bought a Pentex Poineer for my 7 mag. So far no trouble, but iot hasn't had the test of time yet.

Post by: aaronk on October 09, 2009, 07:17:17 PM: A couple of years ago I did extensive reading about scopes before deciding on which one to buy (I ultimately ended up with a Weaver Grand Slam); however, through my readings, it seemed that the Simmons Aetec kept coming up as one of the most popular scopes and that it had a fantastic "bang for your buck" value. I doubt it can compare to Zeiss, Leupold Golds, or Nikkon Monarchs but the value may be the deciding factor. Also note, I've never used one so I cant really add any personal experience. I'm not trying to hijack the thread but I just thought I would throw om my :twocents:

Around 2002 I was hunting and my sling screw pulled out from the stock dropping my rifle right on my scope breaking the recticles. Called Burris and they send to send it to them. A few weeks later my scope was back and good as new with the exception of some scratches from the fall. Shoots just as accurately as when I bought it.

I've since re-stocked (Boyds), glass bedded, and re-scoped (Burris Fullfield II). Last Thursday at the range I was putting 180 grain Sierra Boat-Tails (hand loads) one on top of the other (each whole punched was touching the last) at 100 yards. I'm happy with that! ;)
