ML season open Oct 3. will they still be bugling?
-
I wondering the same thing. If they will still be bugling in NE WA during the muzzy season?
-
They should still be going the first week of oct
-
as long as the weather stays cool u should be alright, but if i gets hot seen them shut up tighter than a straigt man in a gay bar.. :twocents:
-
Yep, should still be bugling. In the past, I've heard them in the Little Naches during rifle deer (mid-October).
-
So many factors... I've been in good elk areas the first week of OCT and heard NOTHING...and I've been in them the same time and had 5-7 bulls screaming their brains out!!! I've had lots of good hunts where the bulls were singing in Mid October and in 07 a heard bull bugled from first light on thru Noon on Oct 25Th!!! Never did see the *censored* either!
-
yep , if it snows they will shut up too.
-
Havent even really started bugling yet. At least not in SW WA. I would say they should really start this week and go through Muzzy...should be an amazing season.

:yeah:
except that I am in NE WA

About mid november.
Specifically in the NE corner.
Your loudest period is OVER. Now they are still going but not finatical. They are cowed up and have had pressure and are very call shy. Now I would bugle to locate then be quiet.
-
Was drinking beers at the campfire one night in MT, October 24th. Let a few bugles out and the Bulls all around responded. It was awesome!
-
1st week of October should be good.
-
What part of the NE ? We hunted all last week and never heard a bugle. So I bet they will be buggling later this year! I wish the archery season was a another week longer in 113 since we get no late season! But we take what we can get. >:(
-
My son had the peaches muzzy tag last year and the bulls where going crazy where we were
-
postly pressure related, had a spot to hunt in colorado for a few years that was low pressure, elk bugled through november, mostly hunterpressure and people that like to "practice bugling" are what shut them up.
-
Until Sept 23rd then it shuts off completely.
-
Does the Walker Game Caller run out of batteries on hte 23rd? :chuckle:

The bulls will bugle year round..... herd bulls will bugle but tuff to get them away from cows right now.... try location bugle and estrus cow for sattelite bulls ;) we were talking to them this last weekend just fine.
-
I bugled in a 6x6 last thurs night to 25 yrds but he would'nt turn broadside. He only bugled twice but it were a nasty, raspy bugle! I was hunting mt. st. helens. I'm hoping to bugle a bull for my buddy who will be muzzy hunting in west klick. I hope they are still talking!
-
Just depends on where you are, I was on the east side of St. Helens opening bow week and didn't hear a thing other than other hunters I found that were calling. The next week I was up north off I-5 and cows and bulls were talking away...........beats me. Oh but what a nice sound it is when you get them going.
-
Back in the day when Bow season opened Oct. 1st the bulls were still bulging hard. I've hunted muzzleloader in Oct. too. Use a bugle to locate them, then get in close and use a hyper cow call and cow calls. The cows are coming in heat again if they didn't take during the pick of the rut, the bulls are looking for those cows. Remember keep checking the wind as you move in.
-
first week of Oct can be awesome for rutting bulls, have had some fun in the corner chasing them during muzzy
-
I'm gonna be hunting 121 and maybe 117.Think they will still be bugling there?

YES ;)

There are still a lot of cows that will need to be bred. I think you could put a menstrating cow in front of a Bull in May and stir him into a frenzy. People talk about the moon and the weather but I believe it is the cows that determine the rut. Find the cows in heat and you may find a bull that is off his rocker
-
friends of mine in ID are having a blast with elk a few days ago, elk screaming, OR too
-
Last weekend there was a bull bugling in what seemed like every drainage. With the colder weather moving in, I expect this to be a hot weekend!
-
still going the night before last. Had at least 3 bulls screaming at us while we were bear hunting. One of them only had one antler.
-
was up in the ne corner yesterday and called in a 5 point to about 5 yards just for fun, that was awsome we had three different bulls bugling within about 200 yards and the cows were talking too. wish I had a muzzy tag instead of archery right about now
