Just wondering if anybody has hunted the okanogan east unit (204). Are there a ton of whitetails in there. What about mule deer numbers? Any info you can give would be great. How much public ground is there? Thanks

yes there is a ton whitetails in there my folks live right in the gut of that unit they will let most people hunt thier property also lots of public ground .
-

Worst unit in the State, in fact their is too much crossbreeding in that unit, your likely to harvest either a midget albino buck, or a Jackelope in that unit ;)

I have hunted the east okanagon during the reg season and i have seen less muleys the last few years. Agree good whitey hunting, but IMO muleys have been declining. Seems to be more hunters as well.

thats right there were a ton of hunters this year. >:(

There's always been a lot of hunter's in the 20+ year's we have been hunting there, only drawback about hunting that area. Though, western Wa. has a much higher density of hunter's than the E. Okie.

New to the board but have been reading a lot of post.I had a late permit in the 204 unit last year andsaw a lot of whities a few mulies with one being a nice 4x4.

This is my 2006 late hunt buck in the 204 unit. Not much, but I'm happy.

Terribel place. Full of hunters and does with a few small bucks. All the big bucks live on the western side of the state.

I love the area. I hunt the high mountains of E. Okanogan. Go look at my pictures i posted in the 2007 deer season gallery....I don't see much white tails cause i'm usually high up in the mountains, but We got some pretty nice mulies....check'em out..
-
isn't that the place where the deer run in herds and there aren't any does? :chuckle:
-
happens all the time on the west side here ;)

There are a crapload of whitetails in this unit which really hurts the mule deer herd and what it could be. Takign up the winter feeding are all year long is very bad.
