His nick name is the corrie gimp due to his injured rear leg and has a limp but with that limp he might be coug bait and there are a few in the area. I found him when I picked up his tracks and tracked him down It was on the fourth time in that area before a got some fresh tracks that led me to with then 90 yards of him. I watched him for about 7 minutes around a rock corrie I had a wide open shot had it been season. I have picture's of him but it's from a disposable camrea and havent even got the film developed yet. I well post the picture's soon though.

how do you know he's 136? thats a very specific #
-
Yeah, geez, Jackelope, if you smoke some cake jack crack you'll be an expert scorer too :chuckle:
-
The only question I would have is what is your personal benchmark, what is your best, average deer and what are your goals? Don't really know enough to comment based on what you've said, we've all seen nice deer in the pre-season, that doesn't mean they will be there later :twocents:. This isn't California, a 136 blacktail is a lifetime blacktail in Washington.

laffin....
crickity crack smickity smack, smackity wack the crackpot.
master tracker....i promise i won't get you going.

buddie I have a trained eye thats the fist thing you got to pass is range estimating. So estimating 136 inch at 90 yards compared to 836 yards and dialing in my mill's is cake jack mic crack. Don't get me going please...>:(
Master Tracker...
What? :dunno:
-
Nick nack paddywhack, my dog smokes crackers :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:.
What the heck happened to the part about the nice deer?????
I have no idea what we are talking about :o :o :o.

--Uh oh, looks like theres another expert on this site :chuckle: Hes got the trained eye :o
-
Any Blacktail to be estimated even near 140 is a shooter in Washington in my book.
We'd like to see a photo though.. Ain't nothin without pix.

I saw a 107 9/16 at 800 yards away yesterday.
-
How bout your measurements so I can get a mental image of what he looks like. I got a 136 3x3 sitting here right now that Ive been drooling over for a while :'( Just curiouse on you bucks tine lengths and beams!! This one has like 13 and 14 inch g-2s :yike: Its is a customers buck that is waiting to get mounted , not a live buck. Just thought I would point that out. It netted 134 and change.
-
--Correct me if im wrong but I believe 135 and above is Boone & Crockett. Most people have never seen a Blacktail that big in person so ya it would be a shooter! I really doubt you seen a 3x4 that big but who knows prove me wrong :dunno:

Do they teach B&C measuring in the Marines now :dunno:.
I've seen a lot of nice blacktail in nearly two decades of hunting them every year. I would doubt anyone who saw a 136 blacktail in Wa. just based on the fact that the only one I have seen that size was in Ranier National Park and I've had hunting partner's kill 122" blacktail that were as good of blacktail hunters as Scott Haugen, I've taken up to over 110". You should know by now in this Site a story like that is well, somewhat useless without pictures. You mentioned letting him grow to 150" on public land, if that deer is anywhere on open public lands it would already be dead :twocents:. You don't pass trophy blacktail on public land in Washington, if your lucky enough to see them a 2nd time, it will be in the back of someone's truck.
-
Are you talking gross or net? That would have to be one hell of a 3 point blackie to net 136.
-
I allways thought people who hunted there whole lifes had better credentials and more knowledge.
-
wooops! forgot to say no offense. Now i done it.
-
Hey man, Im not flipping you *censored*, Im seriouse. Im just curiouse as to what you estimate his tine lengths to be and mains?? Give me a nice mental image. I believe you and hope you knock him down. Id kill that sob!!
-
first of all master scorer...i asked how you knew your buck was 136". I didn't question your assumption...just asked how you arrived at that conclusion.
2nd with all due respect, and thanks for your service to this great country by the way, the marine corp doesn;t give you any experience field judging bucks.
3rd lets see some pics and hear some measurements. anybody that wouldn't shoot a 136 blackie in washington needs to have their head examined.
-
for reference, the blacktail in my profile pic is a 3 point (with one small brow tine) and nets 129 and change (green - and never officially measured).

B&C for Columbian Blacktail is 125
-
That's a great blacktail but it doesn't look to be a Washington buck.
-
My dad has a perfectly symmetrical 4x4 Blacktail that scores 134 4/8 net , 136 0/8 gross, 18 1/2 wide, 16 inside , right main beam 20, left mb 19 1/2.

I doubt any 3x4 is going to score 136. :twocents:

If your going to throw credentials out, they should be relative to the subject. It may seem like a sarcastic comment, but the poster hasn't stated whether or not they are an official scorer, or anything relevant to that nature. Since you make a blanket statement about others "credentials" , let's hear yours? If you guys are going to chest pound, share some substance, so far all you've done is get defensive about questions and provide nothing factual. When you two have more than 100 post's combined, then go ahead and strut, for now we really don't know you that well. I've heard Mastertracker comment he's taken several bucks over 120" in the past but have not seen one photo and it get's tired.
-
Hey mastertracker, no offense and I am very appreciative of you defending our country, but how does your career path, equate to you being an expert Blacktail scorer/hunter? I would shot the buck, and look for an even bigger one next year! :twocents: :)
-
Looks like someone hurt his feelings, he just picked up his toys and left !! :dunno:
-
I think MT is scanning pictures right now... :chuckle:
not to jack the thread but why put a photo shopped picture of your blacktail croix?
-
By the numbers, according to the State record book, there have only been 11 typical blacktail over 136" taken in the State in the last decade. None of them were three points. That gives the average hunter about .004% chance of harvesting one that size in ten years, you have better odds winning the State lottery :chuckle:.

B&C for Columbian Blacktail is 125
--To get in the all time B&C Records book its 135, I just checked! And that is a complete monster buck that most people will never see!
-
Believe National B&C minimum is 125 and State all-time minimum is 135, though I'm not positive, I'm one of those damn SCI members :chuckle:.
-
This Buck would make it though
-
I seriously doubt a 3 1/2 year old deer would score anything near that. Three and a half year old deer in my neck of the woods are little three points or good size heavy two points. . . Maybe my area just has poor minerals and genetics, though I doubt it (Lewis Co.). . .
-
That's a great buck, problem is he looks non-typical which would hurt his score, unless I'm mistaken, but a toad nonetheless. Lewis County has some of the best habitat in the State. Until the Washougal buck was entered this year, the last couple record bucks were from Lewis.
-
--Here's another angle,
-
--Thats what a Boone & Crockett Records Book buck looks like!
-
When are you going to drop him :dunno:.
Looks about 21-22" wide too. A friend of mine has a 23" buck on his place this year, but it is just a 3x3 and short tines, maybe 115".
-
Skookum....your killing me
-
--And he is up your way Bucklucky :P Kinda :chuckle:
-
Charlie's "way" is all SW Wa. :chuckle:.
Charlie, when you get a sec, go to my scouting pics from this week in the Photography section, do you think that rub is a deer, or elk rub? I was thinking deer.
-
Its OK if you want to PM me the location so I can keep tabs on him for ya :chuckle: Brett told me you had a dandy on T-cam!!
-
I got the 22-31 to hunt him so we will see, He was coming into my spot everynight till the damn elk moved in :bash: I dont think I'll be euro'ing this guy if I get em :chuckle:
-
This buck is 130" gross. So if it was a 3x4, instead of a 4x5, like this one, then he would have to be significantly bigger to make 136". I say shoot him immediately, or tell me where he's at and I'll shoot him.
-
Shot it,140 easy.

Hope you put the lead to him man! Id like to see that buck in person! Its bigger than Webleys buck, Im thinking 150 gross.
