I'm just kinda bored I guess... And too lazy to look back and see if there was already one of these threads, But I'm curious to know what kinda gun you shoot for waterfowl.
This year I'm gonna be rockin' the cheap Stoeger P350 :chuckle:. But I really don't mind it, seems like a decent shotgun to me. :hello:
-
Benelli super nova =-) . the 3.5 inch magnum shells really hurt tho...
-
Mossberg 835 and 935
-
super nova and an 835...
-
I usually take out the Benelli SBEII.
-
I've been using a mossberg Model 500,but this year a Browning BPS
-
Remington 1100 3". That's all I've shot my whole life....
-
Remington 870.... flat black w/synthetic stock... tough as nails. Turkeys, ducks, geese, it does it all.
-
Remington 870 3.5" Super Mag. No question the best shotgun around for the money. :twocents:

I bought the same one with the same logic but have come to realize that I will never use a 3.5", but still a great gun
on the sound-870 3.5" Super Mag, custom painting
anywhere else-11-87 premier The greatest gun I have ever and probably will ever own. I swear that gun has killed more things than it's been pointed at.
-
Benelli Nova Pump. Wetlands camo.
-
All good guns mentioned. Started out first gun Mos. 500, then went to the Browning BPS, wore that gun out, picked up 870 wingmaster, then the 870 Mag Express. Then Benelli came out with the Nova, so I ordered one up and picked it up in 1998. I wore all the camo off the gun and the choke rusted in place. Ended up selling it. Picked up another Nova. Then decided to go with a semi-auto. Picked up an 11-87 as I had used the 1100 for trap for a long time. Didn't care for it. Traded it for the Browning BPS 10 gauges. Then picked up the Benelli SBEII which I shoot very well. Recently picked up the Benelli 90 and Winchester sx2 as back up guns for guests. I'm into the waterfowl thing like an addiction.
-
wore OUT a Browning Auto-5..that was stolen in college...then had a Stevens 67E that my Dad has now for a house gun...and now have a stable of Remington 870s...but take the Express out more often than not. I've re-finished it 3 times now...jsut USE the heck out of it...and have a 20 ga Wingmaster for Grouse/pheasant and Also use the .410 I've had since age 11.
-

Browning Gold Hunter Dura-Touch 3.5 Shadow Grass. Three years with it, outstanding. All weapons are different to each person. When I throw this one up it fits just right.

-
Beretta 686 onyx pro waterfowler

Benelli Nova. Was black, but hand painted some camo on it after a post i saw over on DHC. Looks pretty decent, but next time i'll use automotive clear coat. I've got my eyes on a new browning maxus if I ever get back to work.

Man you go through shotguns like crazy! :yike:
Do you have a sling on your SBE II? If so what kind? and What swivels?
-
Just started waterfowl hunting last year. I have a few shotguns in the house all older with full chokes so I started shopping for a new gun. Almost got a super nova but didn't like it as much as the Remington 11-87 that I settled on. I grew up shooting trap with my grandfathers 1100's so it was a easy transition for me. I can only shoot 3" but I have not found the need to shoot 3 1/2" shells yet. I upgraded and got a few calson's chokes for it. It seems to do just fine on ducks.
-
I have a Final Approach Sling. I picked up some Stainless Steel sling clips. Possibly Uncle Mikes. I had standard ones, but they rusted out from the salt water gunning.

Yeah I can't make the uncle mikes swivels fit the stud on the butt stock of my shotgun. I think if I just use a little sand paper I can round off the edges of the stud and make it work.
-
I started duck hunting 30 years ago with a Remington 1100 youth 20 gauge. For the last 20+ years I use a 12ga 870.

They have various models to choose from, so you shouldn't have to modify the gun as there are ones available that will work. I had to do some digging for mine as well.
-
Mossberg 835 I bought when they first came out. Been a good gun.
-
benelli M2
-
Started out with a Benelli Nova and then bought a used Super Black Eagle I and have never looked back. I use the Nova for guests. I also have a Winchester SX2 that I won at a DU dinner (mostly for upland) and a Charles Daily Semi Auto 20ga for the kids.
-
used to have a benilli nova but closing day last year my coat arms kept freezing up so much that i could not pump so i got myself a beretta al 391 urika 2 for this year. i shoot really well with it shooting trap so lets hope that carries over to the real thing
-
Beretta al391 Extrema. bought it 5 years ago. Cant wait to buy another one. Use the 870 for a backup.
-
benelli nova hands down. was my first 12 guage and still love it. dad shoots the SBE and really likes it. Both awesome and very solid guns. benelli is the only way to go
-
remington 870 express super magnum, its a gun a shovel and a hammer all in one
-

I guess i can use that excuse for my poor shooting then too, my whole body was frozen which inhibited my ability to shoot my gun. I do hope we have better luck, and i mean that term in its literal sense, better luck than we had last season, hope nobody with those howitzer chokes are around us.
-
Mossberg 935
-
Franchi I-12 and Benelli Supernova
-
SBE or SBEII depending on the camo I want for the hunt.
-
i've got a benelli nova and will probably never buy another shotgun for my life.......unless $2k magically drops out of the sky and falls in my lap, i would upgrade to the SBE.
-
browning bps pump 12g always 3.5" shells lays them down
-
Oh yeah my gun is a Browning Silver hunter with the shadowgrass camo 3" shells and 28" barrel. Ejection system gets gunked up if i shoot too much trap with it but does pretty well out in the field.
-
I have a Benelli SBE-II...I got lucky and got it at Joes a few years ago...not sure if it was mis-marked, but I got it for $1100, plus 10% military discount, and they gave me a $150 gift card for buying a gun that was over a grand...so it was only $840!
-
Win SX-2. in Shadow Grass. Love the gun. Shoot 3"-4's, but I can slap in a 3-1/2" BB and grab a quick honker when presented...scott
-
Benellie M2
-
Beretta Xtrema 2. 30in barrel in max 4 hd camo.
Still have my 870 express magnum but its at the gunsmith being re blued.
My first gun was a winchester model 12, made the mistake of hunting saltwater with it. I was young and dumb!!!
-
Mossberg 500. I love it for what we paid for it.
Statred out with a Remington 1100, miss the semi auto. :'( The action housing cracked on it so it is now retired.
-
Mossberg 835 with woodland camo.
bought it new 8 years ago, have used it every duck season since, including a trip back to Missouri last year to pound snow geese. Absolutely NO problems with it yet.
next gun will be mossy 935.
-
I know my buddies Benelli SBEII is at the bottom of the river in Lake River down in Vancouver, WA. The dog thought a stick looked like a duck and rushed to the side of the 10' boat and rolled it.

Well..
I really want to switch to an auto but havent decided if the mossy 935 is legit or not! dont want blow 1K$ so holding off for now...
but I have hunted with the mossy 835 for everything for over 10 years now... last night...I put a nighthawk recoil suppression stock on it..we will see if it helps...
The idea was a day of 3.5 inch goose shots might kick my butt. Gun is ready...now just need someone to take me goosin'

-
browning gold auto.. :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Mossberg...500,835,935..got them all...and love them!
-
A good ole trusty mossy 835 with a pattern master put over 1000 rounds threw it last year just during duck season and not one problem love that gun
-
1000 rounds !!!! wow!!! hope that wasnt all 3 1/2 inch heavy shot....expensive!!!! sooo...whats that equal in duckies....400?
-
I got a kid brother that goes through bout a thousand rounds a season... I think my dad is gonna stop buying his shells for him....hoping it will improve his accuracy :chuckle: (p.s....not saying you are not a killing machine)..... man I am getting excited....107 days of duck season coming !!!!
-

Knowing Chim-Chim more like 12 :chuckle:
Mines a 12g Ruger Red Label synthetic stainless. A third shot is usually wasted IMO.

Beretta 390L Silver Mallard

Remington 870 3.5" Super Mag... Picked it up for brand new- in box- for $195.00 when GI Joes was going out of business. Don't know how I did it- best purchase of my life. Tough as $h!t and shoots well.
Looking into a Benelli SBEII... What do you guys think? I've heard great things. Let me know. :)
GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND GUYS! We've waited 9 months for this! :)

hahaha ubwishin'... :bdid:

Most of the time on the westside(salt) I use a 870 12gaTurkey gun wthe the stock shortenned to 12.5". Over on the other side I use a Browning 20ga Superposed Lightning or an SKB 100 12ga SXS. This year I'll be shooting a Charles Daly Youth 20ga for almost everything.
AWS
-
My trusty Pawn shop bought for $250 12g Charles Daly autoloader. My back up is another inexpensive Stoeger Condor O/U. If that breaks, my ability to throw small rocks and gravel at passing ducks hopefully knocking them down.
-
ready for this...mossberg maverick model 88...
-
i've got a beretta extrema 2
-
I had an 870 the last 2 seasons and workrd great but I decided to upgrade to the sx3 waterfowl edtion. What a difference not only is is smooth shooting it handles everything with out fail shooting 2 3/4 6 for phea and you name it up for ducks and geese. Going on a turkey hunt at the end of the month as well. Semi-auto is the only way to go.
-
The 870 is not a sexy pick, but I can't find anything wrong with it. It's a synthetic Super Mag with my sweet custom camo job on the metal using bow-flage spray paint :). Can't really afford to have it dipped and need some kind of barrier from the salt. Plastics are still black with a DU sticker on one side of the butt and Delta Waterfowl on the other side, with a Ragged Outdoors sticker and the forearm. The pattermaster tops things off on the barrel. I will not duck hunt without that in my gun. It was spendy, but I am a results oriented guy and I can't argue with the results of that thing.
-
Been using a Winchester Super x-2 up until last night. Has major problems with it not ejecting spent shells and not firing shells period. Would strike the primer, but not hard enough to ignite the shell.
Bought a Benelli SBE II last night (well dad got it for me as a x-mas/bday present :IBCOOL:) and I can't wait to wack some fowl with it. Got it in 28" barrel, 3-1/2" chamber, wetlands camo!!
-
mossberg 835 :hunt2:

1100 rem
-
Browning A5, sometimes a Remington 870.

wal-mart special? hmm alwya kinda wondered!
-
AL391 thousands of rounds no problems.
-
Benelli Montefeltro, 3" chambered, walnut stock, all beat up from hunting hard in years past. Still shoots straight.
-
Mossberg 935 have had it for years and no problems nice gun.
-
3" 870.... Best gun ever made, Hands down!
-
Ive used the same Mossberg 835 for 12 years as a hardcore waterfowler and just had to buy a replacement gun until I can replace the inside of the 835 ( wore out by sand and mud in the pits). It is a Hatson legacy semi auto 3 in. with shadowgrass camo and oh boy it rocks, easily comparable to the benelli for a cheaper price. Finally an affordable semi auto that you can actually beat the *&$% out of.

Remington 870 express... hopefully soon Remington 887 Nitro Mag

I picked the Winchester SX2 up last year from a guy, almost new. I have not given it a try at ducks. I use it as a guest gun. I went through it this weekend and gave it a good cleaning. I picked up a Briley extended choke for it. I still prefer the Benelli SBEII. It's light, swings good, well balanced and it shoot very good, so I haven't opted to change.
-
Benelli SBE II ..... Now if I could just find time to get out and shoot it.
-
For my first duck season a couple years back the inlaw's bought me a benelli nova camo. I hunted the crap out of that gun and it never had a problem once. Had my father in law hunting next to me with his 870sm and that stopped working on him. hunted next to a buddy with a mossberg pump and that quit working on him from the sand. On a seaduck hunt my wife was using a franchi I12 that busted halfway through her limit. meanwhile on all occasions my Nova never quit, never even had a hickup.
-
I sold my first Benelli Nova, as I wore it out. The guys I know that shoot the Benelli Nova's now have permanent chokes. They rusted up fast. I remove my shotgun choke after almost every hunt and have started using. I now use Jet-Lube, Nikal extreme service anti-seize lubricant. It has a heat rating of 2600F. I would swear by this product for shotgun chokes. Best stuff ever. No stuck chokes.
