Title: First Grouse for my son
Post by: Sportfury on September 30, 2009, 07:22:54 AM: My son wanted to go on the youth pheasant hunt this weekend, but he had a football game on Saturday and Sunday I talked him into going into the hills after grouse instead. It was a great day and we did quite a bit of hiking putting four or five miles on the boots and ranging from 4300' up to 4700' without seeing one bird. On the way back home when we got a lot lower we jumped three blues and Cody was able to get one.

A full crop - red and blue huckleberries, dandelion tops, clover, and various other leaves

He also looks like he is going to be a big man. Keep him hunting. That time with him is now. Football can wait. You have a great looking young man there.
