Great Job and thats awesome your dad got you involved early!

Way to go! I'm 20 and still looking for my first deer so a little jealous. Grown up a bird hunter though. Been hunting with my dad since I could carry a toy gun. It's my biggest passion in life now!

That is great. 243 is a great cartridge too.
The Colockum is some nice country.

Great picture. Reminds me alot of when my boys were young. Good luck this year.

Congrats to you, you have been shown early in life what a joy it is to get out there and enjoy yourself in the moment. Looking forward to hearing about this year.

Nice deer 243girl. :rockin:  Congrats. When you shoot one this year share the story of the hunt with us. Good Luck in the great outdoors. Your on the right track, I didn't shoot my first deer until I was 15

Congrats. My oldest boy got his when he was 14. Good job.

Great job, your already ahead of some of us, I didn't really get started seriously deer hunting until I was 18. Way to go.
-
Good job. I started at 12 with my Dad and didn't get one until I was 36. Read magazines and watch films on hunting and you'll get really good at it. I get two or more deer a year now (out of state).
Learn how to use a grunt call. They work and can be fun. The most important thing is to not let them smell you. Your Dad has probably taught you all this.
The thing I enjoy most about deer hunting is the experience shared with my Dad. We're still hunting together.

Well done!
I was 14 when I shot my first whitetail buck too.
Thumbs up to you dad also.

Good job 243 ... enjoy these times ... your memories of your time afield with your dad and brother are priceless and will be even more precious as the years go by.
I started hunting "blackies" with my brothers and neighbors when I was 14 years old (but never got to share that with my dad who had a severe heart condition). I got a nice 2 pt the first morning with a 30-30 after sneaking to within 10 yards while tracking a 5 pt. Started hunting with a bow the next year and had some pretty good success over several years. However my brother, friends, nephew, and sons all were gun hunters ... several years ago they asked me if I would like to go with them ... never sorry I did .. I harvested 9 deer and 8 elk in the last 15 years with them (3 years of that my gun stayed in the rack during elk season while I took them with me so they could see what I was doing ... have called elk in the last 7 years straight and now they are calling) ... and I should have harvested many more ... but it was more than just harvesting another animal. I love it even more when my sons or nephews or friends or brother harvest a bird or animal. Now, it's almost unbearable waiting until the day I can spend time with my grandkids afield. Enjoy these times and remember its not about the harvest as much as the time spent and the memories shared ...
