There was an aritcle in Outdoor Life about a hound hunter losing his pack to wolves...Sad stuff.
My wife watched two coyotes kill our Boxer two years ago.  She was throwing stones and yelling, but they were essentially fearless.  She was on horseback and "fought" with them for 45 minutes until I showed up on an ATV and rode right up to them and killed one.
I suspect the loss of dogs or pets will be more severe than the loss of livestock as wolves start to find new parts of the country to inhabit.  The problem is that the feds pay for livestock and not for dogs... :bash:

This stuff is pretty common up there. I have a friend who's wife was walking there Pug and a wolf came up and snatched it right out of its harness and ate it.  The running joke was that the Wolf felt like Chinese food :chuckle:

We took a halibut hook and some steel leader and hooked it to a tree and then baited it with some chicken and caught the wolf no more pet snatching in the neighborhood :hunter:
