Is there any one in Western WA that would take a newbie hunting and learn me the ropes. I am willing to hunt for anything to try it at least once. I don't have anywhere to go hunting so I am calling out for help :'(. I hope someone is willing too Thanks. :)

Good luck to you. I have tried the same with very few results. Get online and start searching for public access lands. They are out here but far and few between that I have found. Maybe next year if I find some places to go we will go together but I am in the same boat.
Good luck!!

Thanks Galpster. I have been doing a lot of researching and I think I have found a place but I want to scout it out. This is my first and only year to hunt here in WA so I want to make sure I take advantage of it. Good luck too you as well.

Waltz, let me know where you're going, and I'll lend some insight if I can. Sorry, I've got my 17 and 15 year olds coming later in the week.

isnt there some firearm restricted area you could hunt on whidbey island? this might mean rifle deer season you use a shotgun, bow or muzzle loader but that might be something to look into.
-
Thats just the thing is that I do not know where there are places to go around this Island. I also need to get some help learning how to stalk and feild dress and such. im a noob i know. :(

Tony04,
Lives in Blacktail country. Just head to Morton or anywhere nearby. Thats the general area that I blacktail hunt. Lots of deer, no real monsters that I have seen but there are some nice ones out there.

i'm running up to twisp this weekend to hunt....are you military? let me know and we'll meet up and possibly run up there this weekend
-
I hunt at least one afternoon of almost every weekend there is...
I hunt Cap Forrest or the Skookumchuck...
neither is great but both are close to lcaey and thats where I live!
Im not a great hunter but I spend a lot of time in the woods and accidentally kill something small and unimpressive from time to time!
Come to Lacey and go with me!
pm me if your interested!

I'm still new to hunting in Western Wa. I started hunting here two years ago with a buddy from work who has hunted here all his life. I do have a couple of spots near North Bend and Tiger Mountain East I'd like to try this year. I don't see any firearm restrictions in the 2009 regs for these areas. I would really like to hook up with some fellow hunters for an annual deer camp. :dunno:
-
hey sounds like a plan if you got a place i am willing to go. just shoot me some plans and we can work something out.

I assume you're talking east of Hwy 18, west of Hwy 18 is a firearm restricted area. The problem with this area is you'll probably be running into alot of people up there.
Waltz, some of the things you might think about doing is going to a local DNR office and picking up a map and asking about available DNR land or contacting a local game agent to suggest some public areas that you can hunt locally.
-
Ok so since im semi stupid in this matter what does DNR mean?

Department of Natural Rescources

yeah kettle's trail is open to hunting.....good luck with that crap it is so thick and overgrown it's a pain in the as* to hunt. i hunted it a few days last year.... there are a few public hunting spots up here....but you have to know someone that has land to pretty much tag a deer...pheasant hunting is a different beast...there are three pheasant release sites that are actually decent on the island...get a shotgun and your tag and we'll head over to ebey's landing
-
I got my shotgun ready all i need to do is buy my tags. Is the berry farm people talk about on this island Greenbank farms?
-
Yes, east of HWY 18 is open but will be busy with orange. Ebey Island is a good bet for birds from what I have been told. Just got invited to hunt Elbe area on opening weekend. Maybe we can hit up North Bend or Tiger Mtn following weekend. Good hunting everybody! :chuckle:
-
If you get on I-90 and head east from Hwy 18 try any east of North Bend. You really cant go wrong. I seen deer on Denny Creek, Hansen Creek, and hunted into Stampede Pass. Lots of land to check out and hunt.
-
just a heads up....pheasant tag is 90 bucks....washington doesn't care that we are getting paid a military wage....jerks
-
lol yea i know this state is pretty ridiculous about hunting tag prices. Look here and see what it is for me back home.
