Well, today we were having a party at the house to celebrate my son's 14th birthday. This morning my buddy, who is also a taxidermist, called and said that my son's buck from last year was done. I went and picked it up and added it to the list of items that this spoiled kid was getting as a gift. Buck turned out great.
Here are some field pics from last fall

WOW, nicely done...both of you !!!
-
:yike: Beautiful boys on the wall...I like the double brow tine. Were they taken in E Wash? You should be proud of your boy to take a couple fine bucks like that. :rockin:
-
nice bucks, I think I remember those bucks. If you dont mind me askin who did your taxidermy. Looks like they did a great job for ya.
-
Nice!!!
-
That's awesome! Nice job to both you and your son. Heck of a birthday present...
-
Those are some beautiful bucks and some exceptional taxidermy works. Congrat's.
-
Are those all three Washington bucks? It looks like the Taxidermist took the dry velvet off of your sons buck and even colored them antlers a little darker. It looks great.
-
Happy day to your son, those are some nice bucks, congrats. Mark
-
Actually, looking at the picture a little closer - it's a neat mount. I love the slightly greater head turn and a little of the white of the eye showing. That's really cool.
Who did the work for you?
-
SAWEEET!! ...Nice loking Buck :rockin: and the others arn't bad either......Happy B-day Gavin
-
Great Mount man. Tell Gavin Happy Bday
-
Thanks for the comments guys. The taxidermy work for the '08 buck was done by a good friend from high school. His name is Trent Mooney, and you can reach him at 509-554-1720. The two bucks on top were done by a gal out of Pendleton, but she has passed away. I'm thinking that Gavin stands a pretty good chance of having a shot at another buck of this caliber this year, but we'll see.

Man I bet he is as happy as it gets. Turned out excellent. What a trophy too.
-
That's one full wall, really nice mounts.
-
Nice mounts...Gavin is going to hunt for the rest of his life to try and one up himself, and I hope he gets the opprotunity!
-
Great memories on the wall. Grats!
-
Looks great Scott, that first pic should be framed and right underneath the mount.
-
Turned out great! Was he is an eastmans mag awhile ago? Thought I saw that pic before.
-
looks good
-
Great taxi work! That sure is a wall of dandys!!
-
Thanks again to all. Just to answer a couple of questions that have been asked. Yes, the taxi did strip off the remaining velvet and add some color to the antlers. No, a pic of this buck and my son was never in Eastman's. And yes, all three are WA, public land bucks. Can't wait for next Saturday.
-
Congrat's Gavin and Happy B-Day! With the awesome bucks you've already harvested in your young career...you could be my guide any day.
-
I know that is one hunt you both will never forget. YOu have that great mount to remind you. Nice deer.
-
Great deer, all of them! A perfect bday present
