here's my 3 point, shot him this year down in wyoming, AND!!!!!!!!! on public land
27'' wide
-
the message that clark 33 just posted is actually my deer/me from this year, he my brother in law, i forgot who was logged on lol :chuckle:
-
Dont think I could pass a 3 up like that evening in Wyoming, nice buck.
-
I'll have to call my grandpa up and get him to send me a picture of his 40" 3 pointer with double eye guards. Truly a remarkable buck. I had it in my house for 10 years and then he asked me back for the mount out of the blue... :'( I guess he missed it or something.

Here's a three point I shot a couple of years ago about a mile off the columbia river, nearest town being Grand Coulee. 26 3/4" wide, real tall too, like 19" if I remember right.
-
Here is my biggest 3 taken from Winthrop in 1998.

Thanks jackelope
-
I've always loved thta buck!
-
Fanatic you cant call that a 3 point :chuckle: Love the eye guards, thats such an awesome buck.
-
Youre right..when Jakelope took it down to get it score, I think it had 5 scorable on one side and 4 on the other because of the eye guards and the trash around his bases. Its still a 3 to me! :)
-
This is just a blacktail, my Wa. buck from this year. I just realized I looked stoned in the picture, ten miles and two trips up the mountain will do that to a guy. :chuckle:
-
An Alpine 3 point, Fanatic that's a pig!(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi238.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff110%2Ftkswhanson%2FDSCN0833.jpg&hash=73e316b94781b7d7bf54214ce81b9dfee18161a7)
-
Nice looking coast ghost Dman, you haven it mounted?
-
There is something about a main frame 3 that I love. I think its because they look like gagger whitetails. These are all awsome bucks! Id be proud to hang a tag on any of them.
-
Nice looking coast ghost Dman, you haven it mounted?
Thank you. I'm having the mount done by Peters in Graham, they've done a lot of work for my family.
-
Hey Fanatic what did that buck score?
-
If I remember correctly it was either 162 or 158. Jackelope might remember better because he took it to get scored. I do remember one of his bases was just over 6. Either way not bad for a 3pt.
-
Heres another 3, there have been some nice bucks posted on here.

Sorry an old pic before the digital and I had to take a picture with my digital just to post it, but here's my 3!

-
That was a good one M_ray. I won't forget it. I tried to take a picture of a picture but always got the flash in there.
-
See how the picture is a little distorted that's cause you have to hold the camera at an angle to avoid the flash, I'm much better looking that that usally you know ;)
-
tmike - lets hear some details on that alpine buck, he looks like a high country buck, I love the bladed third point on that bad boy.
-
To all who have posted your awesome looking three points but left out all the details (ie. state, season etc) you make me feel like :bash:. Lets hear a little more about the details from the hunt, its obvious you guys have gotten some pretty nice 3 points.
-
I have shown this one before and it's not a mulie, but a pretty nice 3 pt blacktail my father got many years ago in Thurston County.
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hunt101.com%2Fdata%2F500%2Fmedium%2F1443IMG_1192.jpg&hash=f4f1ee0418d728c641c2f68aea018bd98628ed25)

Picture of My buddies buck we got in the teanaway. It is 26.25 inch outside spread. If I remember right he grossed low 160's and netted in the high 150's.
-
That is an impressive buck was that shot this year? I''ve hunted out there for years and have only seen one that may have been that big.
-
I would be curious to know if that teanaway buck was this year. Great buck!!!
Did you get him down low on private property. I sent you a PM.
-
That doesn't look like any down low private property to me, looks fairly steep i'm guessing north fork.
-
3" brows too
-
One of those that shows up in the email. Don't have any other info.(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi188.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz243%2Ftrailertrash701%2F1794001-R1-036-16A_edited.jpg&hash=6b2f5d2fc5e0e40c9bf0831f1129cf62de00d185)
-
Youre right..when Jakelope took it down to get it score, I think it had 5 scorable on one side and 4 on the other because of the eye guards and the trash around his bases. Its still a 3 to me! :)
i think thats exactly what it was...162 gross. 158 and change net.
-
JPhelps, check out my buck on page 2. Could they be related? Mine was taken in the Alpine 2 years ago. 21 inches wide.
-
Here's my 3pt blacktail with my bow. Shot it in 1994 Skagit County. It has a 3.5" eyeguard on one side. It ended up scoring 98 6/8" which was good enough to make the p&y books for blacktail. My dad also killed a nice 3pt in the same clearcut within 15min. and about 300 yds away. Here's a picture of them both.
-
Ridgerunner PM sent. The story on the Alpine buck is we were doing a lot of scouting in the Olympics and weren't really finding what we wanted so the weekend before the season we scouted the Alpine. There were fires up there so plan b, c, and d fell through. We finally made it up into an area and saw 1 buck maybe a mile away, couldn't tell how big. Opening weekend we got cold, wet, fogged in, and had trouble starting a fire. The third morning I was a little dehydrated so I stayed in camp because I felt like sh@t! about 8 I spotted a doe about a mile away on a ridge so I grabbed my rifle and headed that way. 2 more does came over the ridge along with the 3 point. I got withing 350yds and waited until 11. Just when I was thinking he was going to bed, he fed out and I dumped him. 3 of us packed him out and as much camp as we could. We returned 2 days later to get the rest of our camp out. We worked hard for that deer, I got lucky, but I figure if you want to kill a big buck you need to hunt in areas where big bucks live. Drinking enough water helps too!

I don't want to highjack the thread but here is the story I had. Yes it was this year. You will see in the original story Both bucks were shot on the 20th. No, it was not in the farmers fields. More like 6200 ft. elevation.
-
nice three points guys keep um coming

-
do you not count the eye guards on mule deer??? stupid question but i hear people talk about that all the time. Some say count em and some say no. Which is which for this thread???
-
They count on the over all score but when thinking about a true 3 or 4 point it has to come from the main frame. I think i am not alone on this.
-
Looooooooooooong way away but this is a 3point
-
anyone else have an opinion on this?
-
i always thought. if its a point its a point.
-
Nice buck Huntingfanatic, we have taken some nice bucks out of that exact spot in the last 30 years ;)
-
I agree addict, but if someone told you they got a 4 point what do you think of?? I think of a main frame 4 point.
-
i think of whitetail :P i dont hunt mule deer :chuckle:. Oh and when they say 4 point i think 4x4 not 2x2
-
Nice pretty buck huntnphool. I saw a nice thick tall and fairly wide 2x3 today but unfortunatly I forgot the camera at home :'(. He was what I would guess at about 20 inches wide. Saw One in august that was about 25 or 26 inches wide with a 4 about the same and a 30 incher. Got one terrible pic of the big boy and then the camera died so no sweet high country pics of those boys they looked to eb very hefty and tan colored prolly near 250-300 pounds on hoof. well enough stories Ill try to remember camera tomorrow.
-
god i love to look at deer. alive, dead.....whatever! And you easterners are odd! Not just a little....but really wierd!
Thanks phool! I cant wait to get a late tag for that area.......hopefully next year.
-
when I think of 3 point, I think of a 1X2..... But I'm from the east coast and we can all count past five so we count them all :P I guess you westerners have trouble counting when you have to use more than one hand :chuckle: :chuckle:
1x2 is a 3? I call those trikes :chuckle:
And for your info...that other hand is to hold the beer! :IBCOOL:
-
Coasthunter..... Most trophy hunters or guys that are serious about Muleys only count whats on the main frame. A four point is 4 points on one side with or without eyeguards. You'll hear it said this way....I shot a nice 4 point tday with eyeguards, if it didn't have them it would be I shot a nice 4 point today. Whitetails get one side counted and most of the time eyeguards get counted as they are darn near as big as the average point. I shot a 4 point today is one f Miles 8 pointers. He Miles...did you see the picture of the shedding buck I had on my frosty thread. Its almost time.
-
what if a muley has multiple eyeguards? I have a great rack with about two eye guards and a sticker on one side and another sticker on the other side. both stickers being an inch long...
-
If he is mostly typical, you'd say 4 pointer with a couple stickers and double eyeguards. You wouldn't say 8 pointer.
This is just elitest talk by the way so you sound cool by the campfire with the good ole' boys. You can call it whatever you want. :)
Once they get more than about 8 good poits per side, you can count them all 8x9 6x9 still adding with eyeguards.
The COOOL thing to do is not count the eyeguards but add them.
-

What a odd looking rack, very unique. Thats a very cool 3X2 in my book.
-
Yeah My friend shot that opening morning this year. One hell of a funky lookin deer.
-
3x7?????
a 10 pointer :)

Way to throw a wrinkle in there........... :)
Bone talk
Around the campfire.....
"Man I shot a whompin cool three point this year with monster bases and all sorts of *censored* comin off from it."
-
I should have known that I would get that kind of logic from an east coaster. You almost had me on teh fish, then I remembered you guys do nothing but catch Bass and Crappie, so you probably need all the inches you can get. :chuckle:
-
There ya go jackelope! at least someone around here can count ;) If it grows it, then why not count it? When you catch a fish you don't measure from the gills back but then say...... Man it had a monster head though :chuckle: :chuckle: If you guys only count one side, then how come you count both when it comes to score. If you're only going to count one side, then you should only score one side :P Makes sense!
lol miles

i was born in fly-fishing's holy land i want to let you know. i come from willowemoc/beaverkill/esopus river country. careful talking about those low-life fish...mr. & mrs. wulff would disagree ;)

That's where Boneaddicts and my ancestors started in this country from 1649. Probably still some around. :)

Decent 3
-
Nice sharp picture. I've got one that I consider a monster, or one of the biggest three points I drema about. The pictures turned out ike crap. It was my early years and I had my moms Canon AE1 with a 200mm lens. It was typical dark and deary and early morning. I was with Idabooner and we spottede this hawg. I will dream of these antlers forever. If you don't mind blur, i will scan them and get them in.
-
They always look bigger going away. :chuckle:
-
Look at the chest on that bugger. I'm betting if he had a little upper forks, he'd be at the butcher right now.
-
Ok, I lied about my grandfathers deer. It's not 39.5" wide, he meausured it today and it's 37.5" wide. This is the biggest 3 pointer I've ever laid eyes on. A truly unique deer that has a cheater on the deers left side and it has double eyeguards on each side. He shot it at Harper Valley, Oregon on some ranch. He said the deer was tiny and very young. It think he told me it weighed no more than 150 pounds on the hoof. The antlers looked huge on him compared to his body size. The mount isn't great because he cut the throat. (he was a meat hunter) Maybe some day I'll shoot a little dink spike mulie and have Michelle cape it right. Anyways, one I'm proud is in my family.

Again, not a muley but a decent 3pt blacktail I took years ago.
At the time I was working nights and I got off a couple hours early and went hunting with the plan of being home by noon so I would be able to work that night. It had been raining for a couple days and was monsooning all morning and I was hunting in and near a bedding areas but could not find any fresh tracks. I had been "still hunting" the "paternable" blacktails in Thurston Co. in the beginning of the second week of the season and I knew the pre rut was about to go full on. If I could find fresh tracks in the monsoon I would be in fat city, but no such luck. I was getting tired and soaked, actually I was tired of being soaked and decided to hunt my way back to the rig. I had one last spot to check but by the time I got there I was just plain tired. So I kinda half assed my way into this little pocket and I heard a moan. At first I thought it might be a bear, but I had already killed one (only allowed one back then). I decided to try to take a look and then go get one of my brothers. Then I heard it again and I realized that it was a doe bleating and she wasn't more than 30 yards from me. The rain was making alot of noise and I had a slight swirling wind, but in the thick brush/timber I wasn't too worried about it. I was able to duckwalk about ten yards closer and able to get behind a large firn and a small willow type tree. I saw parts of at least 2 does at 2 o'clock and about 20 yards away. At 12 o'clock and maybe 35 yards out I saw a glint of antler bobbing away from me. I raised my rifle, but the scope was soaked and I couldn't see. Quickly I half cupped my left hand and sucked/kissed my between my thumb and first finger. The rack stopped and then I saw the buck turn and come back about 5 yards. I was on my knees and as I raised my rifle I licked the glass to clear the rain and when I got on the buck I realised that he stopped behind a clump of hazel nut trees. I crawled a couple feet forward but could not get a bead on the body. I had a clear shot at the neck through the bushes but I did not have a real clear site picture due to the rain. I could not see the does, but they started to move off and hook to the left and straight away from me. The buck was getting antsy and started to stomp his hooves. With my rifle half raised I turned my head to the right and blew two quick kisses into the wind. That did it, the buck took two small steps forward and now his vitals were wide open... or so I thought. With my cross hairs tight behind his right shoulder I squeezed the trigger, the buck whirled and fell to the ground and the does took off in all directions. The buck was struggling a bit, but I did not have a clear shot so I slowly moved forward. When I got to the buck he was on his side, his rack stuck in the alder leaves and duff. He was bleeding heavily out the mouth and giving up the ghost. When I went to pull him around for a look I had to really pull on his antlers to get them out of the dirt. I got him rolled over to look at the damage, but there was no hole behind his shoulder. I looked again and then I found it, right behind the shoulder was a little piece of copper singed into the hair. I pondered a bit then took another look and then I noticed two holes in his neck. Two holes in his neck? What the? Two holes about a half an inch each only a half inch apart. Then I realised what happened. Somehow I hit branch and my bullet split in at least two pieces and the copper jacket just shattered. The end result was no blood shot or meat loss though I was a bit bummed when I got him home and weighed. I had to cut him in half and take him out in two trips (not far) but I coulda swore that he was 100 lbs a load. I was wrong, way wrong, he was only 170 lbs field dressed. I was so tired that I stopped by my brothers place to get help hanging and skinning and he was the one who took the pic. I am glad I did as the original photo turned out pretty good.

Here's a decent 3pt. I got out of the Chiwawa a couple years ago.....along with a potentially good younger buck my Dad shot. As you can see the weather was pretty typical that day. >:(

Muleyslyr, Nice couple of bucks there.......Weather looks awefully familiar!

Hope you guys don't get tired of pics on the hoof, thats about 99% of what I have.

Muleyslyer, I know that fog. I have been there! You must be on top, cause that ground is looking pretty flat for Chiwawa.

Ya it was pretty close to the top. I'm thinkin' that picture was taken right around noon on the last day of the late season that year. That was pretty much what we dealt with every frickin' day that year. Man, I hate that sh.t! >:(

My 2005 3 pt.
Shot @ 320 yds. It was 50 feet above my dad on the ridge, but he could not see it. He yelled over the radio for me to take it, but I really wanted him to get the shot. I had gotten a nice, wide 4x4 in 2004 and he had been skunked for several years.

buddie if mine, 3 point 07 snake river buck
-
Wow, nice 3 point for sure. Cute little girl too, thats how mine started out. I cant even think about going hunting now without her asking to go :)
-
Not sure where this one came from, but it was in my Grandpa's workshop in Texas. It was probably killed in the 1970's. It has about 6 inches of nontypical stuff on the right, and we gross scored it about 173.
Brett

Nice! thats a huge rack!

My buddy shot this deer last year in Wyoming. Biggest 3 point I have ever seen. We watched him the day before the opener and then got him first thing the next morning.

Rare animals are always really cool! My buck last year was a cryptorchid (which I was told is a lot more common). Thought it was a doe at first, but found the nuts just inside the hide. Nature can be so strange.

I know this is primarily a mule deer thread but here's a three point Idaho whitetail from I believe 2007. Last day buck after chasing a big 5 for a few weeks but needed to fill the freezer. I believe hes right at 22" wide and his right brow is 12". Kind of a cool younger deer.

That's a cool Whitey
Right. Makes me wonder if it's actually quite old and regressing.

@NOCK NOCK
@OutHouse
Its possible that he was regressing but I think unlikely based on three other whitetails that I sot within 200 yards of this one over the years that appeared to be older. This was an extremely large bodied and healthy whitetail that seemed in his prime health wise (4-1/2 years is my guess, again just a guess on my part). Heres a pic that shows his full body for reference. Still a cool buck and one of the biggest three point white tails that Ive seen.

@Holg3107
Yea I thought I'd throw that out there. I've heard of people harvesting what they think is a 2.5-3.5 year old whitetail only to notice tons of sings of aging (and the teeth of course) and it turns out they shot like a 10 year old regressing buck.
-
@Outhouse
Its not a bad call and honestly could be accurate! Ive only ever had [2] deer aged (while in school at the UI) and my guesses were off on both of them one by 2 years and the other by 3 so honestly who knows. This guy just seemed to have great teeth and was one of the fattest, healthiest whitetails that Ive ever harvested.
-
No joke I had a dream 3 nights ago that a massive blacktail walked right by my house in the middle of a freak rain storm. He was a big 3 on one side and a MASSIVE 2 on the other. I threw on all my clothes and was about to go stick an arrow in him but when I got outside my cousin (who lives in Montana) walks out of my neighbors house and shoots him at 5 yards. It was also like the freaking rut of hell going on in my yard. Deer were running like they had their head cut off.
Ever have those dreams that start good and turn into a nightmare ? Me too... :'( :'(
-
this guy popped up on my cam an hour after legal shooting light. Shooter or a pass at this point in the season? Wait for late archery?(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi63.tinypic.com%2F15oxocm.jpg&hash=6c857c98b868fbe28bd1713bb8e3af6542a16b74)(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi67.tinypic.com%2F70e0ee.jpg&hash=d0f7d6058516791cddd3995e6f22844be83cfe12)

Not a big muley but not a bad whitetail.
-
One I've been watching.
-
I need to revive this thread. Big threes seem to be the hardest to photograph. Big 5s always stand around and pose. :tung:
-
I suppose this guy could fit in either the 5 or the 3 thread.(https://hosting.photobucket.com/68034e43-19b7-4de3-9566-c3ba9c52d3f8/a9276c21-c122-4f94-926b-d7eab5b49cee.png)

That is a cool buck, for some reason I would much rather shoot a huge 3 than a huge 4. I shot a pretty decent buck this year but the only reason I *censored* the one I did was because he was a 3 on one side.

One of my all time favorite bucks you have gotten on film was that big 3 point in the sage I think from the Methow 10 years or so ago. This reminds me a bunch of that buck.
-
I remember that buck well, and you are right, very similiar.

That’s the one!

One of the first bucks I saw and photographed with my new lens. I had no idea how to use it. I’d sure like to get that moment back.
-
Not the best picture as I took it with the cellphone but the one on the right is a 3x4 the smaller on on the left is a 4x4.
-
Poor quality, it’s a screen shot through a phone scope video. He was about a mile away as the crow flies. Passed on him at the time. The more I watched the video the more I regretted that.
-
4x3 with eye guards i think he qualifies

Three

Picture quality sucks but here is one from 2015

bone I don’t know where that buck lived, but here’s one that could be related.
Sorry I don’t know how to spin the pic but it’s the middle buck. I’ll post one in the back of a truck

.
Probably my favorite buck, not my biggest but I love 3 points, wish I had better pictures of this turd, he put me through hell, maybe that’s why I like him so much.👍

I hunted this bucks for a couple of years. Never could get him.
-
My muley that scored close to 150 vs a big 3pt for size comparison on a buck my grandfather killed in the 70s that I repainted since it was bleached out
-
This ones close enough isn't it?
-
Suspected estate bucks are DQ'd. :chuckle:
But, yea, that ones close enough.

I wonder what it costs to hunt their ranch? Their mule deer have some weird genetic characteristics.

About 20k but the price goes up with the score

My contribution

Nice. I like the looks of those big threes that fork in the back vs the front.
-
Not big
But big enough
-
Some stud deer in this topic. Cool to see all the different styles and uniqueness of all these 3 points. Personally I prefer the forks on the fronts over the backs.

Thats really cool Little Pathfinders buck made the book! Congrats buddy!

Yeah, he was pretty happy. He kept saying "It's just a 3 point, he won't make it".
The bear he shot this year made it too, but in the regular (not youth) category; 18 4/8"
-
I’m glad we revived this thread. Some really nice bucks posted. Thank you

Good lord that buck has no neck. Looks like a sea lion. Lol
-
He was rutting pretty hard. When I got over to him his big brother came out of nowhere, trotted over and gave us a look, then thanked me for getting this guy out of the way then trotted over toward the now lonely does.
