Due to a landslide. It's out from Tipsoo to about 10 miles west of Naches. According to the Seattle Times, it'll be a few weeks before it's back up.
Anyone else hoping it's cleared before 11/1?

thats not far from the woodshed and the nile road.
-
Guys looking to go over there for the deer opener might get a map or directions on FS roads from Greenwater. Not sure if they closed the gate to keep people from going that way or not.

FS Road 70 is still open, but it was snowing lightly. Chinook is still open, plenty of people driving around the barricade that was set up.

They aren't stopping people from driving to the eastside on 410?

No, they have signs up starting at Enumclaw right by the fairgrounds and golf course that say SR 410 is closed. But when you get to the intersection to go to cayuse or chinook they have a barricade that says local traffic or something. People have just been driving around it. Or if you don't want to hassle with that just drive FS Road 70 over the top into the little naches. Not much snow up there yet. Good and driveable road with a truck. Not going to be able to make it to Yakima using 410 but if you want to there are backroads to get you there.
-
Don't need to get to yakima, I was just trying to get a plan for Elk season. Some of the backroads don't work out so well with a horse trailer.

Should be able to drive over 410. No police were sitting by the barricades. No park rangers in the park when I went through either. People were hiking the trails around lake tipsoo.

should be some good deer huntin in the nile if ya can get around..... low pressure

A buddy of mine is meeting me up in the Nile for elk and he is coming from Spokane with a trailer. How would he get to rd 1600 or 1706? anyone know if you can get around the slide through oak creek?
-
I think trying to bring a trailer across from Oak Creek across Bethel and down into the Nile is begging for a disaster. Get some weather and getting back up Malloy Canyon to the top of Bethel would be next to impossible with a trailer.

Do we have any Corp Engineers or environmental type guys on the site that might give us a better understanding of what is going to happen the next few months and how long something like this is actually going to take?
-
This is gonna make filling my big bull tag a bit interesting.
-
Damn this sucks ass. This is going to make getting to my deer spot very difficult this weekend! My dad and I have hunted our spot for years and always done well. Our spot is a few miles past the slide. I know of another way to get there, but it is a rough f ing road and the old man dont take the rough ones too well (hip replacement) What to do, what to do.... :bash:
-
Looks like from the pictures there could be a slim chance they could get that side road open so at least we can get to the cutoff to the Little Rattle Snake
-
Fr what i have heard they are going to re do the Nile loop rd and make it in to hwy 410 but only allow local traffic on it. There are going to build up the road way to act as a "Dike" for the winter. Ther will be culvers placed to dirrect the water flow in the river not the roadway.
It will next year before things get back to normal. I even heard they are not going t dig out the hwy but reroute hwy 410 :dunno:
Maybe they will make the Nile Valley road the new hwy permanatly.
-
Hopefully they change the side road from "Local access only" to "No thru traffic" so locals can get to their homes and hunters can get to their camps.
-
Good news all. WSDOT is reporting on their site that they reopened 410 all the way down to the west entrance to the Nile Loop Road. The HY is closed from the east-west entrances of the Nile Loop Road. I would have to assume that coming from the east on 410 will not be a possibility for the general elk and deer.
-
Thank goodness, i've been sweating my elk tag. It'll be a bit of a drive, but worth it...
-
How long does it take to go around, hwy12 to 123 to 410 to the Nile rd from Yakama?

An extra hour maybe
-
Punched the numbers into Mapquest and came up like this...
Naches to Cliffdell via HW410= 30 minutes/25.34 miles.
Naches to Cliffdell via US12-HW123-HW410= 2hours 15 minutes/97.81 miles.
Just a guess but towing a trailer around that route would add 20-30 minutes??? Figure in the 5400ft Chinook Pass weather/snow situation and it could get messy.
-
If I was going to hunt in the Cliffdale area this weekend, I don't think I'd be going over 123 from where I live. It's going to take alot longer anyway you go though.

the closure has changed, the closure is now from mile post 104 to mile post 108 we got this info from wdot after a buddy emailed them. Hope this helps.
