-
taking my nephew out, he shot a doe last year, really hoping for a crack at a buck this year, i think i have more fun watching him than anything
-
My 9 year old passed Hunters ed. this year then got drawn for a Sinlahekin doe tag (3rd choice). Hopefully we can see through all of the other hunters and find doe. Maybe a buck ;).
-
we're taking my bud's 11 year old boy out for the 1st hunt of his life this weekend. he told me he's gonna hold out till lunchtime on opening day for a buck, then he's put the smackdown on a whitey doe.
-
Took my 4 and 8 yo out for early archery, shot a doe, watched as my two boys walked shoulder to shoulder tracking the blood trail. couldn't have been prouder.

-
taken both my boys out with my dad and a good friend of the family, this will be the first year the boys dont have doe tags so its bucks only unless we find our way to a whitey area. good luck to all the young hunters.
-
This year it will be just me and my 9 year old son for his first hunt. He passed his hunter's ed class in June. The kid is addicted to hunting he has been going with me since he was three and he has been waiting for this day for a long time. Well maybe I have to.
-
Took my son out this past weekend up to the vail area, he drew a skookumchuck any deer tag which opened on the 10th. He held off all morning but decided to take a doe in the evening. It was his first deer and he made a perfect 100yd shot and she only went 50yrds. On sat out of the 60 permits, 38 kids went through the vail gate and 22 shot deer.
-
Opening weekend with my 15yr old son. He's got a couple doe's under his belt, but he's huntin bucks this year with a new rifle. The second weekend will be with he and my 17yr old son. Serious male bonding.

Taking out my 9 year old and his best friend. My 9 year old shot a 3 pt last year after a 300 yards stalk, the last 100 yards belly crawling. This is his best friends first year hunting. His parents don't hunt but he is really excited about it. Making sure he has a good time and make him a hunter for life.
My 14 year old is going out with his best friend opening weekend. He has shot bucks 4 years running. Second weekend will be with us if he isn't successful.
-
i will be taking my 5 and 3 year old elk hunting with me if there is not too much snow. i had to explain to my boys that "boy" deer are called bucks not buckets. it was pretty funny
-
I will be out looking for two monster bucks for my boys. The just passed hunter's ed and are excited to be out hunting for themselves. The boys are 12 and 13.Doing with them what I wished I could have done with my Dad.
-
I just got home this morning from a 12 hour shift, and do not have to be back to work until Nov. 3. I'm not hunting the rifle season,so I will be trying to get my son on another good buck this year. I'm feeling pretty good about our chances. If we get done early, or on the days that my son is actually in school, I've got a couple of friends who I wouldn't mind helping out.
-
Try and keep her from going. :chuckle:
-
I will have my 12yo nephew along for opening weekend, his first year hunting.
Got a few grouse under his belt in sept and now try for a deer.
I will be at my property in the NE section between tonasket and republic, anyone hunting with kids that needs help pm me and i'll try to help, or you can just stop by and say hi.
If you have a doe permit for 204 for youth i might be able to help with some access for that.
-
Very nice of you Buckmark, do you see the buckmark in that last pic? ;)
-
Yep, did you ever enter that photo in the show your buckmark contest??
-

A few years ago when a nephew was just 16, he'd gone opening weekend with his dad and come home skunked. I was skunked on my trip. So, mid week the nephew and I were discussing hunting... Money was a little tight for gas and such so.. His dad let me take his fuel miser truck and his son hunting the next weekend. His dad had to work.
One of the biggest pleasures of my life was standing next to my nephew when he plugged a nice Muley buck off-hand for his first deer. He's since taken more deer and one bear on his own.

I'm taking my 12 year old son out, in search for his first deer. He got skunked last year, wich was his 1st year. We have 150 acres of private land to hunt and i've been watching a huge 4 point so hopefully we can find him. I just baught him a new .243 and it's all sighted in and ready, my son loves it. Good luck to all and STAY SAFE!!!!

Gutpile, great thread, and you are right, we will be in search of our first deer for my 13yr old son, and my 11 yr old daughter. They have their packs loaded, I have the snickerbars and apples all ready! Since they passed hunters ed tigether last July, I want nothing more than to gut their deer.
Good luck to all, and thanks to a few of you for a bit of guidance with the NE hunt.
-
My son and I are headed out this weekend. He doesn't have school Monday and since his grades are good I will keep him out Tuesday as well. He is 15 and drew a youth doe permit. Can't wait to watch the day start to get light with him Saturday morning! More good pictures and memories coming!!!
-
My 12 yo going for his first deer. Never saw horns last year, maybe this will be his time. Good luck to all.
-
I am right there with the rest of you! Taking my 13yr old out after his first deer. Passed hunters ed last year in Colorado and has been dying for a deer since. In Colorado deer tags were draw only, so now that we are back home this will be his first chance.
I can hardly wait! :IBCOOL:
Tombo

Me and my Brother are taking out the boys, his 16, mine 14. Hoping they can get the fever and start a lifetime of memories. My boys first year actually carrying and hunting was last year and his grandma (my mom) had a heart attack and stroke and ended the hunt on the second day. She's doing good now and hopefully we wont have that again. Would make my hunt for the boys to connect.
-
The buddy that I am going to hunt with this year, is going to bring his 9 yr old boy on his first hunt. Should be fun to watch daddy get a deer. :IBCOOL:
-
My 8 year old son is going with us for the 4th year. He hasn't taken hunters safety yet (next summer) so he'll just be walking with me and his grandpa.
One brother is taking his 6 year old son,and the other brother is taking his 16 year old daughter. My nephew hasn't taken hunters safety yet either, and my neice doesn't want to hunt, its just a camping trip for her.
-
Taking my 16 and 19 yr old daughters out with icicle outfitters trying to get thier first deer.cant wait
-
The first 6-8 years, boys stayed home w/ momma, been huntin' w/ them the last 10+ years. enjoy every minute of it.
-
Takin' Pathfinder Jr out. Got a little bachelor herd scoped out. Public Land though... We'll have to beat the crowds. :bash:
-
Well I've taken my 2 oldiest boys out all year scouting, They are 5 and 3 We have so much fun finding elk and deer, can't wait until I can take them hunting.
-
This will be the first year neither of my boys will be able to make it deer hunting camp in over 10 years. My 18 year old has a new job, and my 15 year old has to have his grades above a "C" before he can take a week off of school, and that is not going to happen this year, lol.
Enjoy it while you can everyone. There will come a day that they will not be able to hunt with you and you will feel like a huge part of deer camp is missing.

Ain't that the truth. I hope to get at least two more years out of my youngest. My oldest lives in CO and my 20 year old lives 6 miles away but, doesn't speak to me much. The youngest is already talking about joining the Air Force in two years so there will be a big hole in my hunting heart soon! I may have to start taking out young kids who either don't have a father or kids who's families don't hunt.
-
thought I would add a couple of shots from last years stand,
my now 13 year-old girl with a jawbreaker in her mouth

and my now 10 year-old boy playing with the grass cause he's getting bored

my girl got a shot at a nice 4x4 whitetail after these shots were taken but since her brother was making too much noise the does had us pegged and the buck was not coming any closer, so she had a long 240 yard shot. 240 is not long for her anymore after some practice.
-
going with my brother , my wife and 2 kids ( 4 yr old girl and 2 yr old girl ) will be the first year bring them hunting with me
-
Taking the daughter after her first whitey, and the nephew (8) on his first deer hunt where he can kill one.
