Title: Bird hunting in Montana
Post by: ribka on October 14, 2009, 07:21:47 AM
Thinking of taking the dog to Montana. Received block hunting booklet from MT Fish and Game
Anyone willing to share general info on Montana bird hunting areas?

Also combine some fly fishing probably on the Missouri River by Craig, MT
Thanks

The numbers are down in most of Montana but a bad year in Montana is light years ahead of this state. I just got back last weekend and had a good trip. Anywhere along the Hi-Line has good bird hunting and the further you get from towns the better the hunting and better chance of getting permission to hunt private land. I won't give out any specifics on-line but if you have any areas you are looking at in particluar PM me and I will try to help.

Will pm. I think will have a couple of hook-ups to private land in addition to block management.

i talked to a bioligst today that lives in conrad, he said it was better than he expected it to be. but they were killing mostly last yrs birds.good holdover but poor hatch. but mix it up with huns and sharptails and you'll have a great time.i'm leaving next tues.
