Man I wish I would've stumbled on this horn when it was brown. Hell, I wish I would've found the damn thing. My brother found it on the rifle deer opener. I walked within ten yards of it last fall, and close to it this spring, but on the wrong side of the brush. The pic does it no justice. In the hype of opening day, I didn't measure it (yet), but the eyegaurd is 3" plus, 7"+ base measurement I'm guessing. A great horn no matter what. I'll have Justin measure it, then he can post it.

And too bad the back tine doesn't match up and make an even fork. And sorry for the ugly *censored* int he pic, kinda ruins the experience of looking at the horn. ;)
-
there are ways to stain the horn to make it look fresh
-
ya when i spotted the horn about 80 yards away and the way it was laying down it looked like a ribcage but i thought ya know maybe its a giant horn so i walked down and when i finally noticed it was a horn i almost pissed my pants. But it is the biggest horn i have found. I iwll measure it tonite and let you guys know. OH and josh, i may be ugly but look who found the big horn!
-
I'm surprised the horn didn't grow legs and run from your ugly ass.
-
with a little work you can make her look fresh again...heres one that I did. Nice shed by the way!
-
That looks brand new. Nice
-
Holy cow that does look brand new. I've got a couple of dandies that I'll have to give that go on. Any particular stain that works well?
-
do you use some kind of putty for cracks, chew marks, or broken pieces? Looks good

Smeone up at Entiat found a "Elk Shed" :yike: the thing was a monster. They were hunting up potat creek some where.
I do not know how to score but was probably 5 feet +/- tall, and my buddy almost rearended me when he saw it

I start with a natural base coat, then get dearker as desired, roughing the antler up with scotch-brite or sand paper along the way. It takes a few before you get the hang of it so dont start with a nice shed! Do a search on "staining sheds" on this site and you will find some good info. I beleive i did one under "before and after" or something like that.....good luck

Sweet find! Also, great looking fix, lewy!

I scored this horn yesterday. First time I got 81 10/16". Second time 81" even. I'm not a math major, so I added it all on the calculator and it's right. Looking at the buck, I'd say 20" inside spread, but that could be conservative still. So...if the other side matched, that makes 162", plus 20" spread makes 182" gross. Smoker muley in any unit in my opinion. If you don't believe me on the numbers, I can have my bother post the numbers from the score sheet, I left it with him.
-
From what I remember, the mass measurements are just under 6 for the first two, just under 5 for the second two. Main beam is 21 and change. From there I'm not sure...I'll ask him to post them.
-
Ya thats a hell of a horn. I wanted to find that buck on the hoof

NICE HORN , AND I WOULD KNOW THAT BEER PONG TABLE ANYWHERE !
-
Shoot, what pong table? That's a dinner table...for those that like to drink their dinner, that is.
