well if you hunted the north counties of the east side you know how swell the weather was. I hiked in on friday morning and after 5 hours was able to set up my camp. I call it camp but really it was a megalight, ground pad and a bag. I have hunted the same area for a couple years now and to total all the hunters I ave seen in 3 years is exactly 3.....so I can't begin to elaborate on my locale. saturday moring brought weather that would be crappy i you were a goose. seldom could I use the binos and tripod I humped up this wretched hill. I did manage to all but step on a bunch of deer.....all women and childeren though. after a tough day I made camp and enjoied a yummy dinner of sweet and sour pork via mtn house....mmm. if you have never slept under a tarp in a driving rain storm, you should try it....lol. I stayed just warm enough to sleep well and then it happend.....my phone went off. what the? I forgot my camera so I grabbed my phone to snap a pic, and would you guess it.....work sends me a message to be in polson montana at 7am monday. not good when you are 8 miles from your truck and 500 miles from polson! I woke sunday to a glorious morning......of course. I packed my gear and dumped all but enough water to get off the mountain on. I was far from quiet, but deer were everywhere. I guess I was far enough in to get to ones pushed by the previous days hunts. then the fog comes......great. as I am clanking down my "trail" I see a deer 50 feet to my right......a 4x4 mulie. I look him up down and sideways. he is weak in the fronts, but still plenty good for the taking. one big bang later he is flat. I bone him out in record time, and pull the skull cap. load him up and go to toss on my pack. holy crap I am getting old and out of shape! long story short.....here he is
