Title: Facemask for those with glasses?
Post by: SpokaneSlayer on October 27, 2009, 09:31:35 AM
The one thing I really hate about wearing glasses is that they fog up, especially when wearing a facemask in cold weather.  Does anyone know of a facemask or any other technique to combat this?  I've tried Cat Crap/Scope Dope, anti-fog spray, and even liquid soap.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I looked into that through my military hospital.  My eyes aren't bad enough to qualify to get it done.  And I can't afford it otherwise.

i use a mesh facemask with lots of ventilation. it's kinda like window screen material only softer...one of the cheapy facemasks. it works and doesn't fog up mostly.

if it's really cold my glasses will fog up face mask or not under the right circumstances.

Thanks Jackelope, I'll check that out.  Late season is probably going to be fairly cold.  Maybe I should practice shooting my bow without my glasses on.   :chuckle:

I use a camo baseball cap from cabellas with a built in mesh facemask. When your done hunting it wads up inside the cap. My glasses have never fogged while using it.

ive tried various products as well and very few seem to help and the ones that do only for a short amount of time.  masks that have a mouth hole seem to fog me less so i cut holes into my masks that did not have them and this has helped some.

overall i pretty much think i am going to get contacts or eye surgery to fix the problem its the worst most annoying thing ever!  i had to shoot my turkey 3 years ago looking over the top of my glasses and my deer this year i just had to take them off all together.  i may try some of this scuba anti fogging stuff but that doesnt work im going under the knife i tell ya!

In the winter I also use shaving cream to keep from fogging up. Put on both sides of the lens, and rub clean. Doesn't leave a residue.

I have glasses and have this problem to. Here is an idea.. When I play paintball I use a mask with a fan inside. I can play paintball all day long sweating my ass off but yet my glasses never fog as long as I run the fan. You could wear an armor face mask underneath. It would would strange but you could see")
