Title: young bucks
Post by: wrangler on October 27, 2009, 10:54:39 AM
so i ended up passin up a 3x4 and 2x3 on opening weekend.... little did i know that out of the 16 bucks we saw those were the ONLY 2 legal bucks we'd see. talk about frustrating! iv never seen 16 bucks in a week of hunting in washington. it was really encouraging but at the same time pull your hair out frustrating watching spikes and 2 points all week! i was wonderin what everyone else saw? how was the buck/doe ratio? lots of little bucks? i was in the swakane/chiwawa and spent a day in the entiat and didn't hear near as much shootin as usual...

Season is too early to see much other than local bucks, the migrators are just now starting to move. We were seeing 30-50 deer a day, lots of small bucks. We started seeing bigger bucks moving in Saturday evening, the permit holders are going to have a great hunt.

totally agree about the local deer, thats all your goin to find in those areas during the general season. we usualy see at least a minimum of 5 or so legal bucks,  2 and 3 year old 3 or 4 points and have run accross a few 4 and 5 year olds in years past. not this year... all yearlings or small 2 year olds. it was very unusual.

I love to hear that!  My dad and I will be heading over to the Gardner unit for his late hunt after my wrestling tournament on the 7th.  I can't wait!

Well I saw 13 Two points in one day over on the snake river. I saw a total of 28 two points throughout the whole week. We did manage to tag out on Six bucks and Four does, so it was a pretty productive year. I found some new property to hunt and I saw close to 200 deer on the property on the last two days of the season. I think next year will be great over there depending on the winter.

I've seen alot of two points too, problem is they're so small i don't even think they'll be my type of shooters next year!

saw about 20 bucks this year. LOTS of 2 points! Saw a 2 point and spike sparring.

Probably 4 legal bucks...

Deer numbers look good from what I've seen It was a very nice suprise.

I saw a lot fewer deer and bucks than I normally do. I think I am going to have to say it was a down year. Not a lot hangin around either. Although the ones I saw were mature.
