Anyone shooting one of these?
Was thinking of getting an AR platform.
I dont own a 243 and always find it nice to get something in a caliber i dont have. Plus it would be nice to have a mutli purpose caliber weapon.

seen a guy walking around with one in vail the other day. his was a 7mm-08 though. he said he really liked it for deer hunting. he let me handle it for a few minutes while we glassed a clearing. it shouldered really nice, wish i could have shot it. it felt really good

it was more than likely a remington r-25 if it was in 7mm-08 i am going to get one after xmas this year i have shot the remington 243 it is a great gun a bit heavy but shoots good can be bought in the r-25 in 308, 243 or 7mm-08 i am a bushmaster fan so not shot to many dpms but my buddy has one in 223 the standard and it shoots fairly well be ready to spend some dollars they are about 1500 for one of the r-25 and the magazines are very very spendy in the special calibers the 223 and 308 are cheap like in the sportsmans guide but the 243 and 7mm-08 i have only found from the dealers

nope it was a dpms forsure. he said it started out life as a 308 3 or 4 years ago. had a new barrel made last summer because he liked the ballistics of the 7mm-08 better.

o.k i see

Yeah dpms started producing them in more hunting calibers. I think they just started offering the 243.
Just would be nice be able to hunt deer with it for the money spent, instead of just small critters

I have never shot one, but I want one.

Wouldn't the mags all be the same because they are all 308 cased rounds. i know in other rifles mags are the same for 243 and 308 so i don't see how this would be different.

I've been looking at getting one is .338 federal
.243 would be cool.

I like the 243 caliber, but didn't want an AR 10. They are quite a bit heavier than an AR 15. I had an AR 15 already anyway, with a decent trigger in it. I was looking at all the different calibers that have short enough over all length to fit on an AR 15 lower, and found out that Olympic Arms, (made right here in Washington), makes them in all the WSSM calibers, and I read that they have one caliber of their own, I think they call it a 30 Cascade or something like that. Also, there are some custom builders that build uppers or complete rifles. Long story short, I found a slightly used DTech upper in 243 WSSM, (but Rainshadow got it before I did), and one in 25 WSSM. I now own the 25. Going to take it hunting antelope next season. I still don't like the "black rifle" look of it, but that's just me. Coyotes don't like it at all! Ballistically it's between a 257 Roberts and a 25'06.
