Title: Leupold power ring extremely hard to turn
Post by: Tony 270WSM on October 28, 2009, 11:14:23 AM: Recently picked up a slightly used VX-II 3-9x40 in good shape. One problem with it is the power adjustment ring is extremely difficult to turn. Called Leupold about it and they said to send it in after the season since they currently have a 4-5 week turn around time.

Am close enough to drive out and talk to someone in person, but doubt that would make a difference unless they just gave me a new one on the spot. Again, that is doubtful as well.

Have heard of others with this problem. Anyone here send one in for that? Did they fix it to your liking?

Post by: Gobble on October 28, 2009, 11:17:50 AM: Could just be crap in the threads, I have one from the late 80's that has always been fairly tight but not to Gawd awefull. I'd be more concerned if it wasn't tight, that why they hold their zero so well, tight tolerances

I've read on other boards that the hard turrning power ring is a comon problem. Send it in, they'll fix it. 4-5 weeks sounds pretty long for leupold. I've sent in scopes a few times over the last few years for custom work and its never taken longer then 2 weeks to get it back. About a month ago I sent in 2 scopes for turrets, had them back in less then 1 week.

Post by: KillerBeee on November 27, 2009, 04:08:13 PM: I have a 3x9 that also has a very tight adjusting ring. They said send it in and they'd loosen it up. No mention of how long it would take though. BTW Mine is a Century edition. Not sure what that is exactly comparable to though. Let us know how it turns out.

Post by: wsmnut on December 14, 2009, 07:33:01 AM: I had the same problem on the same model a year ago. Sent it in. They told me 2 to 3 weeks. It was back in one week. Worked beautifully.
